Caroleigh:
I could hear their screams as I felt pain flood through my bare feet as I ran through the forest. I could tell that everyone has been slaughtered from the silence of the screams I once heard. This only filled the necessity burning with in me to push my pace even more. I didn't know how much longer I could keep going.
I could feel my dress being torn and my legs and feet stinging from the torture they endured as I ran. Just as I thought I was about to faint from exhaustion I heard the howls, that I have no doubts signaled the leader that they had picked up my trail. Suddenly realizing they probably smelled the blood coming from my newly open wounds, I decided to take a sharp right towards the cliff.
As I ran I concluded that I would die before submitting to the viciousness of the half man half beast that has tormented me in my dreams. If only I had listened to my gut feeling instead of the orders for me to attend this party I would not be facing this current predicament.
However, think if this lead me also to understand that no complying with the beasts' order would have lead to the assassination of my life. That was something I never wanted to happen. However, it seemed that fate wanted me to be alone for the rest of my life since it happens that my family was still taken from me. I believe this is something that will burn in my heart forever.
Hearing the snapping of jaws I knew the wolves were too close for comfort. I truly had no clue what they wanted from me, but regardless I knew that it was not a life that I wanted for my self.
Seeing the cliff becoming visible in the darkness that surrounded me I began to convince myself that a life complying with the command of the beasts was not a life worth living. As I neared the edge of the cliff I began to see my life flash before my eyes. I always heard that when you face death straight in the face that you see your childhood flash before your eyes, as well as all the dreams you wanted to come true. I knee this to be true due to the overwhelming gloom in this night.
I finally reached the edge of the cliff and quickly closed my eyes and prayed to be reunited with my family in the afterlife. Unshed tears made there way down my face. I cried for the mistakes I made, the pain I caused my family and for the life I would never have since I was ending this quickly. I knew the cold temperatures would pull me under and end this quickly as my body freezes. As the wind whipped around me and waves crashed below, I prayed it would be a quick death. A death that was an escape from the barbaric life that now consumed the world. The once happy life that we all treasured was taken away from us all a while ago. Stories told about those that were taken and I was hell bent and determined not to be one of those people.
I heard paws screeching to a halt and knew it was time. With my last bit of courage I willed myself to jump an as I leaped trough the air, I never hit the water. I never heard a slash, nor did I feel cold.
In fact, all I heard was a few words that spoke into my ear that said, "what do you think you are doing?"
