Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mocking Bird" appealed to many of the readers because of its subtle humor. The novel tells you that the ability of wondering in children is very predominant with a curious nature. Being narrated in the voice of a young girl Scout Finch, the beauty of the novel is more enhanced.

This story is based on the systemic racism which is a major problem of United States of America. The story is set in the 1930's where discrimination was prevailing based upon race, color and religion in all the sectors of America and it also affected a lot of people.

One of the characters from the story Tom Robinson, a black man was accused of raping a white woman Mayella Ewell. Atticus Finch , a lawyer and a father took Tom's case and tried his best to prove him innocent because Tom was indeed innocent and the situation that was pictured for the court was wrong. It was Mayella's own nasty doing and one can not pardon her for her shameful indictment of Tom Robinson and despite all the efforts Atticus couldn't prove Tom innocent and was found guilty by the jury. This shows us how exactly systemic racism and white privilege works.

The most favorite and wonderful characters of all the time is Atticus Finch and his relationship with his children is pretty admirable. He is a man of strong character who believes in justice and equality. He taught his children not to judge someone on the basis of their color. He always taught his children what he believed and it was indeed right. Being the lawyer of a black man, he was threatened, his children were harmed but neither did he nor he let his children's believes waver. A brilliantly played character who is very much needed in the world.

The story might be covering the topic of systemic racism, but it takes a mysterious turn when on one point the focus moved on to "Boo Radley" the confusing neighbor who barely made any appearance throughout the novel. Yes he played a key role by saving the lives of Scout and Jem. But still this thing is still unanswered that why was he so much important without making any appearances ignoring the main topic of the novel.

Overall this novel is youthful , playful and incredible. This novel is just like a roller coaster ride where feelings change from sad to happy. It teaches us not to fear and face every challenge despite all the consequences. Misery, Joy, Darkness, happiness is explained in this novel. With unmatched power of loving wisdom about the human hearts, no one should miss this book.

My favorite quote from this book is :-
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view.... until you climb into his skin and walk around it."
