Chapter 1
"I heard that he's April's age," Livia dreams as she stares off into space, probably imagining a person that is no where near what the actual guy looks like.
"Dude, you're like twelve. Do you really think that he's actually going to go for you? Besides, technically if he's my age, your dad won't let you date until you're sixteen anyways," I remind her. I love Livia, but come on.
"I am twelve and a half," she corrects me, and I laugh. "Hey, don't shoot me down because you're thinking of going for him."
"Can you two please shut up?" Victoria asks. "I would like to see the new family, and I can not do that if I have to pull Livia off of April because of something April said."
"Look, here they come!" Livia exclaims as she points to the door. Overdramatic much?
All three of us look towards the door to see a man and a woman already inside the chapel. The man looks to be in his fifties, but that is only because of the grey hair. His face looks young. The woman looks sweet and nice as she greets everyone who walks past her. Behind them is a teenage boy that does seem to be my age holding the hand of a little girl (probably his sister) that has pigtails.
"What I would do to talk to that guy. I call dibs!" Victoria exclaims. Livia shakes her head and I bust out laughing.
"I say the girl that gets him is the first to talk to him," Livia says. Suddenly, they both snap their heads towards the guy and race to go meet them. Caleb, my big brother, comes over to me.
"What on earth are they doing?" Caleb asks me. I look up at him and smile.
"They're trying to see who gets to get with that new guy over there first," I laugh. Caleb looks down at me.
"Dude, Livia is like twelve and Victoria is almost dating that weird guy," he points out. I shrug my shoulders. "My lord, are they trying to fight to the death over there?" I look at Livia and Victoria and they are both getting in each other's face in front of the boy.
"Hey, hey, hey, what are you doing?" I ask them. The boy looks kind of freaked out.
"I saw him first," Livia claims and reaches her hand out to the boy. "My name is Livia Parker. What's your name?" He puts his hand behind his head.
"I'm Tyler..." he says awkwardly.
"Hey! I saw him first, isn't that right Tyler?" she asks him.
"Uh..." he starts to murmur some things.
"I am so sorry about my friends here. They just get really excited when a new family moves here, because they like meeting new people," I explain to them and start walking the other way with Livia and Victoria right next to me.
"Wait," he calls before we get too far. I turn around and raise an eyebrow at him. "You never introduced yourself," he smiles extending out his hand. I look down at it. Livia nudges me in the side.
"April Stevens," I tell him, shaking his hand. He looks at my face and smiles.
"Tyler Harris," he says. I let go of his hand and start walking again. "Wait, aren't you going to ask me where I moved from?" He catches up to Livia, Victoria, and I.
"Fine, where did you move from?" I ask a little rudely. The guy seems nice, but dang, does he ever want to make friends.
"Well, I moved from Salt Lake City, Utah, to see if I could get better schooling here than there," Tyler explains.
"Wait, where are you going to school at here?" Victoria asks him.
"I would tell you, but my family is calling for me. I'll see you guys later," he winks and walks back.
