Rosa... Who the fudge-cakes is Rosa? Where ever she lived, it was as far away from Whitehaven as possible. I had left Whitehaven in the dust, hours ago. I tried to research her name but it came up with exactly 48267 results. I did look at some but they were all either really young or really old. When I say old I mean over 150 years old, due to medical research people have been living older and older... My generation is suppose to live until at least 160 years old. Due to the ever increasing life expectancy the world is running out of room, what used to be lush, green meadows is now golden desert.
I often wonder what life would be like back then. To be able to lay on natural grass instead of the rough artificial stuff we use now. To be able to breath proper air and not the fake mixture we use. To be protected by an atmosphere and not the bubble thingy the earth now resides in. If I could chose an age to live in I would chose the 21st century. Why? Well was the turning point of our evolution. It was then that incurable diseases became curable. It was then that politicians discovered true peace. Oh how I loved learning about that era. It was the era of true love.
You would always hear about their fairytale lives, about how the innocent girls met their own prince charming. "I want my own prince charming" I said to to empty seat next to me.
"One day soon, you will" A woman's voice filled the empty car. I squealed in shock, when I saw a woman in the back of Bria's car. She was in her mid 40's like Gina and looked strangely like me. We had the same shade of brown hair and the same dazzling violet-blue eyes. Though her hair was long and curled around her chest. Her figure was slender which she complimented with her clothes, a figure hugging light blue t-shirt and jeans. "So Hope, we meet again" She smiles. A smile so disarming that she cannot be human. It threw me off for a moment and it took me seconds to regain my voice.
"Firstly, Who are you? Secondly, Why are you in my car? Thirdly, How did get in here?" I quizzed staring at the woman. For the first time ever I was grateful for the auto drive settting.
"Firstly, I'm me. Secondly, I believe your looking for me, so where else would I be? plus you and I both know that this isn't your car. Thirdly, I notice you seem to realise I'm not human so what kind of question is that?" She mimics my words from earlier, still smiling like a maniac.
"Firstly..." I glare at her "Whoever you are, you better get out of my car. Secondly, Whoever you are, I'm sure that I'm not looking for you, so you need to leave my car. Thirdly, Whatever you are, you need to get out of my car now!" My words didn't faze her, she just shrugged and disappeared in front of my eyes. I stared at the spot she was just sitting in, not knowing whether to believe she was really gone or not. It took ages to convince my brain she was really gone and I still occasionally checked whether she was there.
She freaked me out. The fact that she was similar to me caused questions to run through my brain. Who was she? Why was she here?... Was she related to me? I knew I should be worrying about Bria, and it sounds a bit heartless of me but I wasn't. I knew that she could look after herself, wherever she had gone. What I wanted to know was who this Rosa is?, and who the 'him' that Gina mentioned was? The questions circled in my brain making me more and more frustrated. I resorted to playing an old 21st century game called eye spy by myself just to keep my mind off things.
"I spy... ahhh whats the use" I moaned banging my head against the steering wheel. I'm pretty sure the horn went off as pedestrians gave me a funny look. I wanted to scream. I was so bored, it was another good thing about driving manually, I was preoccupied with concentrating on the road. Unfortunately I had to set the car in auto drive and the car wasn't fancy and it's only destination finder was connected to the auto drive. So basically I was bored with only my thoughts to keep me company.
After traveling for another hour or so... The car came to a sudden holt. I had stopped outside some rundown shack in the middle of nowhere. The roof had caved in and half the brick wall was missing. The window that I could see was empty of glass. It looked like nobody had lived in it for a good couple of century yet outside sat a little old lady in a creaking rocking chair. I approached her slowly, towards the obviously crazy woman. I mean who would live here? "Hope? I assume? she asked, she didn't sound like a sweet elderly woman, instead she sounded young and carefree. I nodded unsure.
The woman in front of me stood up and as if shredding a skin, transformed into a young girl. Her long blonde hair was tied up in pig tails and she had a cute round face. If I made a guess she was around 12 years old. You could tell her hair was long as her pigtails ended somewhere in the middle of her back. "I'm Calypso by the way, but you can call me Cali" She held out a podgy hand for me to shake. I took it in mine and she yanked me through the empty doorway. In my defence I only fell because the force she pulled me with was twice the amount that a normal twelve year old would be capable, that and the surprise of the attack... okay I may be exaggerating, it wasn't like she tried to beat me up.
"Ummm Cali? Why are we here?" I asked looking around the wrecked building. Cali giggled and shook her head. She grabbed hold of my arm and I got the feeling I was sinking into the ground. Almost instantly the ruins were raised into the sky and the ground swallowed us. It was like I was in a glass tube, the ground separated under our feet and closed again after we had passed. It was weird because with Cali, I felt safe. We were gently put onto a solid oak floor. We were in some foyer of some kind. In front of us stood a large wooden desk which was flanked by two sets of stairs. They met in the middle of some landing which looked to lead to two corridors.
"This way Hope, the headmaster wants to speak to you" She lead me over to a double door on the left hand side and knocked gingerly on the door. A voice called from within, and we entered a study. It was full of bookshelves with thick dusty volumes and at the back stood a rather strict looking man. He was balding on the top of his head. His thin frame glasses slid down his long, pointy nose.
"Calypso, go get you brother" he commanded, Cali rolled her eyes and looked as if she was about to say something but thought better of it. She left the room.
"I can assume your not Rosa?" I joked, trying to lighten the suffocating atmosphere that that had filled the room.
"You assumed correctly" He nodded "Though you will meet her later... though I suspect that you have already met her. She never was one to wait. Do you want to sit?" He pointed to a soft sofa in the corner of the room. I must admit his offer was tempting... I walked over to the sofa, it certainly was soft... I sat down, I couldn't resist. "Your friend, Bria, you want to save her, correct?" I nodded "then you need to train. I have selected Calypso and her brother Rayden to train you..."
"Sir, where has Bria gone?" I piped up
"Bria..." He was interrupted by the door opening and two people walked in. Cali was tiny compared to her brother, lets just say her brother was tall, 6 foot maybe?. Seen as I'm only 5 foot 6, he was like a giant to me. He had blonde hair like his sister... well it was obviously shorter and not in pigtail but you get what I mean. He had the same violet eyes as Cali. There were differences, as there were in any siblings. The boy, who I assumed was Rayden, was tall and muscular while Cali was short and boney.
"Hello sir" Rayden bowed deeply to the man, Cali rolled her eyes.
"You don't have to bow Ray" She sighed
"It's called respect, something you seem to lack... and don't call me Ray, you know I hate it" He moaned. Cali just laughed.
"Now, now you two... this is Hope, you know what to do" He nodded to the siblings. Cali stepped forward and grabbed my arm. She pulled me out the room. "Don't break her" The headmaster called out after her. I heard Rayden tut before following after her...
