Before the stories of Kaiden the Brave, before Nero the Kind, before Theda was known as Theda. There lived an ancient race of powerful people that harbored a connection to both the Light and the Dark. They were the precursor race of the Thedian people. They were called the Tal-Vasoroth. However, the people rarely lived peacefully, and most of them left their world to venture the universe for a place to call home. Their King and a handful of the people stayed behind to care for their home world, in the hopes that someday they would all return. It was rare to see more than one of them in the same place, and if they were it was very possible that they were fighting each other for either power or authority. Their battles would level cities and occasionally destroy entire worlds. Once in awhile they would work together to rule over a world or fight a powerful enemy, but eventually they would turn on each other and chaos would ensue. They always wanted followers, not followers to worship them, but to be their soldiers, mages, wisemen, and even subjects. They all craved being rulers, but they all respected the authority of their king. They never disobeyed a law he made or an order he gave. Whenever the king would call upon them they would answer, but this isn't about the King or his family. This is about two Tal's who defied everything everyone had known about them. Two brothers who changed their fates and history.
The Tal's had a distinct appearance. They started off as giant creatures. Skull heads with horns that seemed to have an unnatural glow to them, skin as tough as diamonds, claws that could shred anything with and effortless swipe. They were incredibly strong and could easily level a building or any mountain by simply leaning against it. Their eyes were empty, soulless almost. The two brothers however, looked nothing like this. They looked more humanoid, with actual faces and eyes that were bright yellow and cold. Their horns were a part of their skulls still but they weren't glowing. They had a coat like skin that covered their lower half, their legs resembled their previous form, claw-like and vicious. Their skin was probably stronger than that of a regular Tal. They kept their tails, actually the tail was useful in combat. The brothers were incredibly powerful, some say that they could even overthrow the king if they wanted to. The older brother was given the name Shadowdancer, his younger brother was Cific. The two were inseparable. They were always on a mission together or they were liberating worlds from tyrants and sometimes they even assisted rebellions in the destruction of their governments. Wherever they went, there was always an adventure that followed them, nothing was ever boring or without purpose.
"Hurry up we are going to be late" Shadowdancer called to Cific. With a groan the young Tal sat up from his bed and rubbed his eyes until he lazily opened them. He looked over to the door of his room and yelled down to his brother who was standing at the door on the first floor of their home.
"What do you want?" He yelled back in annoyance.
"We have another mission to take care of. Some King has a problem and has asked us to solve it for him." Shadowdancer shouted back.
"Why is this our problem?" Cific shouted getting out of bed.
"Because he is giving out a very major reward for it, Seven Sacred Rune stones."
Cific was downstairs as soon as the words left Shadowdancer's lips.
"Well what are we waiting for, lets get a move on." Cific said eagerly.
"I like the enthusiasm but there is a catch, this King has given this contract out to a lot of other worlds, and we are not the first to respond to the call. Apparently there are a lot of interplanetary mercenaries that want in as well. So no only do we have to fulfill the contract but we also have to beat the mercenaries as well." Shadowdancer explained.
Cific blew raspberries and laughed.
"You act like they are going to be a problem." He mocked his brothers concern.
"Well only one group will be a concern. White Talon, they are Vasoroth Hunters." Shadowdancer said lowly. Cific's face dropped and he looked slightly concerned now.
"So then we do have to be careful, well what are we going after then, I thought Vasoroth Hunters only took contracts for killing our people." Cific asked.
"Well that is the catch, its a Rouge. Our King has put a hit out for this one as well, so we can get double the pay from both of them. Our King is offering land and we could really use that."
"So we are going then?"
Shadowdancer nodded and walked over to a closet with a skull engraved on the right door.
"Let's go."
