My story starts here, a little puppy resting on my mom. The scent of her warm milk wafted into my nose when I breathed deeply. All my litter mates were squirming around me for my mom's milk. My name's Harley and I'm a West Highland Terrier dog.

"Hey, Mom, why does the sun rise and set every day?" I asked.

"Did I ever tell you the story of Sun and Moon?" Mom asked, softly.

"No," I admitted. "Can you tell it to me?" It sounded interesting.

"Okay," said Mom. "Once upon a time, there were two dogs. Their names were Sun and Moon. Sun was a magical Golden Retriever with a glow so bright that you'll be blinded if you look at him, and Moon was a white dog with gleaming silver fur. They raced across the whole world. Do you know how hard that is?"

"Wow, that's a long distance," I said, looking at her in awe.

"Well, anyway, whenever Sun got tired, Moon took over and ran past Sun. When Moon got tired, Sun happily ran past Moon. The days went by, and they still raced. To this day, you can still see them racing across the sky."

"I have a question. When the sky has no Sun or Moon in it, where are they?"

"Why, they're resting, of course!" Bella, my older sister, interrupted.

"Yes, Bella, you're correct." Mom said. "You see, Harley, Sun and Moon are spirit dogs, but they still need to rest nevertheless. There are also many more spirit dogs that I'm gonna teach you about. First, get some sleep."

"Aw, okay..." I nodded in understanding, then lumbered off to my bed.
