My name is Nikka and I have been living in pure darkness for more than an eternity. Well, that's what I thought. Ever since childhood, I was a caged bird because of my situation but I learned how to live with it. As time passes by, bit by bit, I tend to get depressed. It's like being dead. The doctors couldn't even do anything to cure me and with that, I lost hope. Each day, this depression slowly devours me, a monster that won't leave me. And my parents? They've been too busy with our family's company, leaving me all alone.
After too many nights of endless thinking, I finally arrived at a decision. The next day, while everyone wasn't at home, I decided to grab the opportunity to sneak out. Yes, I may be blind but I know how to be independent thanks to my wrist walking stick. I knew that my house is just a few blocks away from the High Bridge. It felt like by taking my life would finally end this misery. I continued to walk and I knew for sure that I was almost near to my dearest destination since the smell of fresh blue sea and its whooshing near the shore are present.
Tears started to gush down my cheeks heavily as I readied myself to meet the sweet sea that will take me from this misery.
"Is this what you want?!" I shouted at the sky one last time, leaning on the bridge barrier.
I began to raise my leg in order to climb up to the barrier when I felt like there was another leg that I just hit and also heard loud weeps which I think was right beside me.
"It sounds like a guy." I thought. And he was crying really REALLY loud like there was no tomorrow.
"Hey w-what are you d-doing?" the guy said between his weeps which I think he was referring to me.
"What else would I be doing?" I lifted myself again.
I heard a thud which I think he just got off from the barrier and felt like he just came closer to me.
"W-whoa! Stop that! Come down this instant!"
"No! why would I? you were also doing the same thing a while ago." I can tell that he was struck by my words that made him speechless for a second.
"Wait.. You're blind!"
"The hell do you care." I spat back.
"Just come down and let's talk this out okay?"
"NO!" then I continued to climb up.
In an instant, I felt a tug on my skirt that pulled me down which caused me to crash on the ground with a loud thud.
"Oww! What was that for?!" I complained.
"Saving you. You wouldn't want to further pollute the sea would you? Name's Wesley by the way what's yours?"
"Well, Wesley, thank you for saving me." I replied sarcastically.
"Welcome. Glad to hear that.. and your name is?"
".... Nikka...." I replied.
Then I felt him flipped my ear."
"For real?" I scoffed.
"Don't do that ever again you, moron. You don't know what you're thinking."
"I know what I want okay?! I don't want to live this kind of life anymore! It's nonsense! It's like being dead anyway so why bother living?!"
"Whatever you are going through right now, trust me, don't be confused that death IS only the way to solve your problem."
"You know nothing about me, Wesley."
"I know. But still I want you to realize that your decision is wrong. I want to help you, Nikka, but would you let me?"
"A stranger.. wanting to help someone like me... What a joke." I laughed in disbelief.
