Mom and Dad always said Niall and I would get married one day. We had been best friends since 3rd grade. He was there for me through the mood swings of my first period. He helped me get up when I was depressed from my first break up. He was even the first person in the receiving line at my graduation party after finishing college. We were perfect for eachother. Well who knew I’d be here right now watching him exchange vows with some hooker from Vegas...Just kidding...She wasn’t a hooker...but she might as well have been. She was ruining my perfect fairytale.

The wedding was done to perfection. The bride’s parents hadn’t spared a penny. To be honest it was a bit overwhelming. They’d flown everyone out to an exclusive resort on the southern beach of Maui. And by “everyone” I mean all 346 of their guests. The flowers were flown in from southern France and the chairs were handmade by a carpenter back home in New York. It was every girl’s dream wedding.

I didn’t like Laura, Niall’s soon to be wife, but she really looked gorgeous up there. I don’t want to know the price tag on her dress...I’m kind of upset Niall didn’t force her to make me a bridesmaid because those dresses were fucking Chanel..but I wouldn’t ask her to be one of mine, either.

Sitting there I couldn’t help but hate Laura with all my guts. She had stolen the one most important thing in my life and Niall had done nothing to prevent it. I have to be honest..I never told him that I loved him more than a friend, but shouldn’t he have noticed? Now I was screwed. The love of my life was marrying some girl from college and I was being left in the dust. It’d always been my dream to get married, but once I discovered my dream was to marry him it was too late. I had to respect Laura a bit, though. She held my best friend’s heart in her hands, and she could break it at any moment. Also, she seemed to make him happy, and anyone who could do that must be worth something.

My thoughts were interrupted by the minister. “If you have any objections to this couple joining in marriage speak now or forever hold your peace,” he said. I struggled to think of a reason not to storm up in front of everyone and speak from my heart. It would be better that way right? If Niall knew how I felt then maybe he'd pour his heart out revealing similar feelings. No, I couldn't do it. I didn't want to ruin his special day. I had to grab onto the edges of my seat to keep myself down.

The ceremony continued normally. I caught the eye of the best man, a curly-haired guy with gorgeous green eyes and a fabulous smile, so I had something to look at while my best friend vowed his love to another woman. How come I hadn't met the best man before? Niall had picked him for a reason but I didn't know him? There would be plenty of time for introductions at the reception.

I looked over at the couple next to me. It was Louis and his wife, Eleanor. Louis had been one of our good friends all throughout high school. Eleanor, who was my best girl friend during that time, was his high school sweetheart. Their wedding was quite the event, much like this one. Louis grabbed Eleanor's hand as a delicate tear rolled down her cheek. At that moment I heard it... "I do."
