Life with The Doctor was all about the running, even if he wasn't there.
Seriously, if you wanted to lose weight then The Doctor was your man. Well, not literally your man, because he's my man. Back off.
My name is Doctor River Song, most people just call me River but my parents called me Melody, The Doctor on the other hand, well, that's between me and him.
Anyway, this story starts somewhere just before Amy and Rory - my parents - died. Now, I'm not going to get all sad and soppy about this because I know that my mother and father would want to be remembered as a happy story, never sad.
So I suppose we can start off by saying that the afterword written by my mother that you all know is a big pile of shi- sorry, lies. A big pile of lies. She never did find my father and that still breaks my heart everyday but I'm glad that mother took my advice, to never let The Doctor see the damage.
He can't take it. As much as he says he can, he can't. There's only so much heartbreak a man can take, even if he has got two hearts. And to him, promising my grandfather that my parents would always be safe was the most important promise he'd made in a long time and the most important promise I made was to make sure that as far as my husband was concerned, he'd kept his promise, because that's marriage, Sweeties.
Anyway! Back to the running, there wasn't actually much running involved to be quite honest. Mother was quite... Well, old by the time I got to her. I found a way to go to my mother and I'm pretty sure I ripped a hole in a universe somewhere along the way but that'll probably be a story for another day.
I'm not going to tell you how I found my way back, why? I might be mad but I'm not stupid. You could be an intergalactic police officer for all I know.
When I found Amy, I was so happy I could have exploded right there and then, but I didn't have much time. And that's another thing about getting caught up in The Doctor's crazy life, there are always consequences and mad rules.
My, um... Means of travel, meant that I only had 2 weeks to spend with her. It feels like there's some kind of rule, like every time you time travel you lose something that's important to you.
This time the consequence was my Father.
