It's been a month since David first adopted max and it's been going well they have fought but David expected that David looked at the clock it was 3:20 almost time to pick up max from school David turned off the tv and put on his shoes and got his keys and got in his car to pick up max David also was trying to get max to call him dad he hasn't called him that yet other than that today max wanted to visit gabe his biological dad in jail so that's what they are doing today well that's what max is doing David didn't want to be nosey David pulled up at the school and max hurried and got in the car
"Hey Max how was school today," said David driving off
"it was cool I guess," said max David noticed max was rubbing his arm like it hurt and that concerned David
"umm Max is your arm ok," said David still looking at the road
"oh yeah it's fine I just hit it on the way out of school so it hurts a little but not too much," said max obviously lying to him but he didn't want to call him out on it
"well are you excited to see your dad," said David changing the subject
"yeah I guess I just want to cut off all ties with him"said max adjusting his seatbelt when they pulled up at the house max went In to drop off his bag and got back in the car and they started off to the jail maxs dad was being held in Gabe had no idea that max was coming to visit him
David had convinced max to do this in the first place after a while of driving they got to the prison and max and David got out David would have to sign him in since he was not 18 or older max and David walked in and David signed max in and gave him a hug and left max walked into the room where they pat you down and you put your stuff in the locker after that he walked in to the place where they check your hand if your stamped and after that max went into the visitor's area and there was his dad waiting for him at the booth
"what are you doing here," said maxs dad narrowing his eyes at max with full hate
"I am only here to tell you not to ever contact us anymore," said max rolling his eyes
"well sure I'll do that why would I want to talk to a stick and a piece of shit," said Gabe
"you know what FUCK YOU I hope you rot in hell ass hole because I fucking bet one day you will regret saying that to me," said max storming off and his hands curled up in a ball and he left the prison when he was in the parking lot he pulled out his phone to call David to pick him up when David arrived to get max he could tell Max was really pissed the whole was home max didn't say anything and just looked out the window the only time max looked away from the window is when they got taco bell and it was to eat
"hey max are you ok what happened in there," said David putting his wrapper in the taco bell bag
"I don't want to talk about it," said max gritting his teeth
When they got to the house max locked himself in his room and curled up on his bed with me honeynuts after an hour of trying to get max to come out David decided to call Gwen over to try to help cheer him up after all Gwen did say if David ever needed help with max to give her a call
"Hey Gwen could you come over I need some help with max he's really upset and he won't tell me why," said David outside of Max's door and on the phone with Gwen
"ok ill be there in about 15 minutes," said Gwen yawning
"thank you so much bye," said David hanging up and started walking to the kitchen to make cookies in hopes that they cheer max up he loved his cookies after a bit Gwen knocked on the door
"where is he," said Gwen getting straight to business
"his room he locked himself in there about an hour ago," said David putting the cookies and milk on the table for max if he comes out Gwen walked down the hall to Max's room and knocked on the door softly
"go away David I told you I don't want to talk about it," said max his voice was muffled by the teddy bear he was stuffing his face in
"hey it's me, Gwen you will feel better if you told us we need to know what happened so we can help you" after that max opened the door just a bit his eyes were puffy from crying
"We made cookies," said David holding the tray out so max could see Max opened the door and they all went into the kitchen to talk about it
" I told him to never contact us again but then he said that's fine by him why would he want to talk to a twig and a piece of shit anyway," said max sniffing while eating a cookie
"max listen to me you are not a bad person Gabe is if he can't see that your an amazing kid then who needs him" David got up to give max a hug max needed to hear that
"Thanks, dad" max whispered into Davids' ear that made David cry and also hug him tighter then he already was but max didn't care anymore he needed a hug from someone and if that someone was David then let it be him because for once in maxs life he felt safe and happy not fake happiness but real happiness
