"Rosemary!" my eighteen year old brother, Devlin, yelled. "We have another one!" He and my other brothers, Hagan who was sixteen and Taddeo who was seventeen were lugging a severely wounded man into our tiny house, which was also an apothecary shop. I cleared off the table as they laid the man on the table.

"What happened?" I asked, inspecting his body.

"A rock fell on his leg in the mines," Hagan explained. His hands were patched with coal dust. I pulled out a pair of scissors from a small drawer and cut his pant leg free. His skin was a million shades of red and purple. It was bleeding like crazy. I had seen worse, but it certainly could be a fatal wound. I raced around the kitchen, and grabbed supplies. I grabbed some salt water and began to clean the wound, but the man winced.

"Taddeo, sleep syrup," I instructed. He nodded, knowing exactly what to do. He grabbed the vial from the cupboard and poured a bit on the man's tongue. He began to get drowsy and eventually fell asleep. There was a knock at the door as I applied the pressure to the wound to stop the bleeding. Hagan answered it. It was the wounded man's wife and six young sons. The eldest one looked about seven.

"Get those kids out of here," I commanded. My brothers knew what I meant every time I said something. Hagan explained the woman that children had to leave and that he would stay with them. She nodded and Hagan left with the children. The wife came further into the kitchen and once she saw her husband's leg she began to weep.

"My husband! Is he alright?" she demanded.

"He will be," I said, not doubtful in the least.

"Ma'am, let Rosemary work and let's go into the sitting room," Devlin coaxed.

"I need to stay with him!" she protested.

"Take her out," I demanded as I continued to soak up the blood. Devlin took her by the arm as she fought to get to her husband. I knew if she saw the leg up close she may pass out. It really was disgusting. Once the bleeding finally came to an end and I saw what I was working with. It was a gash so deep I could see a hint of white, which was the bone. I grabbed a needle and thread and began to stitch up the wound. I applied ointment to the deep purple bruises along with ice I had made with water I cleaned with iodine from the lake. After a while I finished with the man's leg, proud of my work. The swelling had gone way down and the wound was a hundred times better. I covered the wound with a cloth I had substituted for a bandage. I called for the wife to come back in. He was coming back to. He laid on the table. His amber eyes began to open slowly. The wife slowly came in. Her face was tear stained.

"Charles," she whispered. He began to sit up slowly.

"Helen," he whispered. He now was fully sat up and blinked to make sure it was his wife.

"Charles!" she exclaimed. She raced into his arms, full on crying.

"Careful of his leg," I reminded.

"Oh Helen," Charles said softly as he stroked her long brunette hair.

"I didn't think you were going to make it," Helen said.

"I did, all because of this girl," he replied, pointing to me. I smiled bashfully.

"Thank you so much for saving my husband," she said, wiping away her final tears.

"Don't mention it," I replied. She smiled and continued to hug her husband. My brothers looked at me lovingly. This was a normal day for me.

My name is Rosemary meaning dew of the sea. My parents named me that for two reasons. One I have eyes that are an ocean blue and I am one of a kind. I love to hunt and have a hand for healing, at least my mother said I had my aunt's and her blood combined. I live in the newly built District 12 with my three older brothers, Devlin, Taddeo , and Hagan. Devlin means bravery, Taddeo means courage, and Hagan meaning strong. Yes, I do not live with a suitable parent. But the reason is strong. This may be hard to believe but I am the daughter of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. I was born about 6 or 7 years after the war, before my mother and father were taken as hostages in the Capital. We did have a short amount of time where we were free. That is how Katniss and Peeta have children. Though Snow was dead, he still had family left. His son, Zade Snow, had taken over. He had went into hiding in a place nobody knows of and formulated a plan for revenge. One day, he did come back. Zade had thousands of Peacekeepers and we surrendered on the first day. Thousands died because of the attack. Zade quickly rebuilt District 12. He restarted the Hunger Games and now everything is as it was before. There have been lots of small rebellions but the number of Capitol citizens and peacekeepers had tripled in size and the number of citizens per district was around 1,000 instead of 8,000. All the rebels were quickly killed or tortured. Zade Snow now rules Panem alone, with his daughter being the only heir to his presidency.

This was my first year at the reaping. All of my brothers look out for me, but they were powerless against the reaping. To try and protect me, Taddeo and sometimes Hagan spent full days with me working on hunting, fishing, and all sorts of necessary skills of the Hunger Games while Devlin was trying to work for some money though he did help me sometimes as well. We got by. Barely.
