As I look into the mirror of my bedroom, I see a mess. Frizzy blonde hair, dull brown eyes, my kilt is un even, and my shirt is wrinkly. This is a great beginning to the first day at my new school. I quickly run a brush through my hair, fix my kilt, put on my uniform pull-over sweater, and swipe my finger under my eyes to get rid of my unwanted make up. I give myself a once over and am about to go out my bedroom door just as my mom calls me.

"Sarah Mae! You're going to be late!" I sigh exasperatedly and run downstairs so my mom doesn't burst a lung the next time she yells.

I run up to her and kiss her cheek saying good morning and she just gives me a dirty look.

"What...?" I say quietly.

"Your hair is frizzy." she lightly chuckles with toast in her mouth.

I look at her short frizzy brown hair and laugh, "yours is no better, ma."

I go over to cupboard and get a package of pop tarts to eat on the bus and just as I'm about to grab a paper towel, my mom comes up and hugs me with her petite frame.

"I love you and I hope you have a good day." She kisses my cheek and then hugs me again.

"Woah, alright ma. love you too but I have to go. bye!" I say and quickly kiss her cheek while running out the door and grabbing my bag. Running to my bus stop with pop tarts in one hand, and my bag in the other, I get to the bus stop just as the bus gets there.

I get on the bus to only notice a girl with fire red hair and green eyes. I look at her, and she takes a headphone out if one ear, "sit with me." she says quietly, "the others in the back are a bit rowdy."

I take a quick glance to the back and notice a boy with brown hair staring at me with others shoving him around and laughing and all looking at me bright eyes. Uhhhm. Alright. I turn back around and look at the strange girl beside me.

"My names Sarah Mae, what's yours?" I say politely.

"Roxanne, but mostly people call me roxy, or red. Either one works for me!" she says with a quirky smile.

"Okay so, roxy, who's that guy back there with the brown hair?" I quickly say close to her ear so nobody hears.

"That's Carter Fae. He's an idiot and sadly, my cousin." She looks over her shoulder and gives him the finger and I immediately hear booming male

Laughter. Hmm.

"He keeps staring at me..." I say in her ear while looking sideways towards the boys in the back. He's still staring at me. Uhm.

"That's carter for you... I can tell him to leave you alone if you like." she laughs loudly. I reply quickly with "no it's fine. he's kinda cute."

But she just yells loudly "Kinda cute my ass! he's freakingg ugly!" and laughs loud again.

Alright then.

"Never mind then. I guess not. You're in grade ten right?" I ask.

"You bet your skippy I am!" she just smiles.

"Show me your schedule" I say.

She quickly hands over her schedule after rummaging through her bag for minute and I look, we share all out classes together! no way!

"We share all our classes!" I say happily and she squeals. All of a sudden we hear a male squeal. Obviously an immitation of Roxy. Roxy, being the idiot she is, turns around and shouts "I'm gonna tell aunty Jane you're imitating me again!"

a chorus of 'ouuuuuuuu's go on in the back and u turn around to see carter being pushed around once again. Geez. Guys are rough. I just giggle and he looks at me with thinking green eyes and he sweeps his hair to the side with his hand. He quickly winks at me and then shouts " yeah and I'll tell aunt Mia about you and Jase!" another chorus of ou's go around and I can't help but join in and laugh as she turns red.

"Whatever" she mumbles.

"What's that?" carter says and cups a hand to his ear.

"JACK ASS" she yells and flips him off once again just as the bus gets to school.

Jesus Christos.
