Two weeks have passed since the three of us were detained here in the Trenchant. In the past week, the four other detainees in our cell block were taken out to be transferred or something, so only the three of us are left in here.
Hazel is fine, a bit traumatized but fine. Kurt however, I could only make him believe that his brother is fine so many times. I hear him sobbing through the walls saying that he should've been the one left behind. I just stopped trying to calm him down. Just let him go through his process. We've all had our share of our losses, but that, the thought of losing his half, I can't relate to that. I'm not even going to pretend that I could.
I sat down on the bed and I looked at the scribbles on the wall.
I'll be back
I keep on analyzing it. The handwriting, it's human. My normal handwriting is programmed to be Mechanical and Clean, like other androids, even my subconscious would write like my normal one. Suppose that I copied the handwriting from someone else; I think I would've known if it was.
Another thing is, how was that person able to access me? Did he hack the Trenchant's network to get to me? and to give me his mission or something? To find this, Amelia
An android suddenly came and said"Android UX0753, You are being called in for an emergency meeting, made by Chief James Larson and Android Captain, A0007". Then my cell door opened.
"Please follow the lights to the Session Hall, Thank you." The android added
I see that Hazel and Kurt were already way ahead of me as their cells are left open and empty. I head to Session Hall. There were about seventy or so androids, then a few dozen human prisoners. I see Kurt at the other side but I couldn't find Hazel.
"Good afternoon everyone. You may be wondering why you are brought here. Well, we're simply proposing an offer." said the Chief
"As you all know, the situation outside is getting dire. We're losing hundreds of officers everyday, and we need more of them." said the Android Captain, which is the Winged Android.
"So we're offering you, the Redemption Program. Join the Corps and we'll give you a chance to redeem yourself."
"Depending on how much you've helped, your time here may be reduced or your crimes be expunged entirely, and you'll be free."
"We'll make this quick. If you want to join, stay and we'll give you proper training, or leave and return to your cells." the Chief said
Most of the Humans left the room immediately. I technically have three lifetimes to serve, even if I do join and say that one of it was expunged, I'd still have two to serve. I was about to return to my cell, but then I saw Hazel, at the front, standing still and looking up to the Android Captain. I stopped. I sighed then walked forward to join them.
"Alright then. Humans follow me to get you registered" Chief James said
"Androids, follow me so we can install your protocols" the Android said
We followed the lady to a room. I see that Kurt followed too. I went over to Hazel at the front of the line.
"What are you doing?" I asked her
"Like what the lady said, I want redemption, for all the things I've done; and I want to help." she said boldly
The lady stopped. "We're here."
She walked around the machine-filled room. She signaled us to sit down in the machines.
"We're going to install a chip in the back of neck. It contains the combat system and protocols used by the Android Corps, and we also have something in there for precaution." She said as she started the machines
"What kind of precaution?" I asked
"A tracker, a little taser, and a small EMP emitter if things go south." She said
The chip was implanted. I suddenly got a surge of information from the chip. Protocols, combat tactics, how to use guns, and information about our upcoming missions. My chest lit up with blue light that looks like the logo of the Android Corps.
"Now tap your chest with your fingers twice" the lady said
Starting from my chest, a thin cloth starts to build up that spreads around my whole body, and dark blue UI replaces my normal interface. It shows the names of the registered androids around me.
"Captain 'Angel' A0007?" I said
"Yes. It's the nickname my team mates gave me" the lady said with a smile
"Our first mission is at 8:00 PM Tonight?" Someone asked
"Correct. It is to infiltrate the suspected android bases in the outskirts of town." Angel said
Chief Larson came in the room. "Is your team ready, captain?" He said
"Yes, sir. It's just time to sort them out." Angel said
"Alright then. Carry on." The chief said, then he left.
"Let's go. Prepare yourselves. Medics and Troops. You know who you are, get to your stations. Get everything you need. Go!" She commanded
My UI showed me signs to where I need to go. Half of us went to the right and the others went to the left, I'm guessing the ones going to the left are the medics. We got to the armory. By the entrance, a machine gave everyone Carbon Fiber police armor. It wasn't as comfortable as I wanted, but at least I'm safe.
As I went around to get weapons, I looked for Hazel, but she wasn't here, I'm guessing she was assigned as a medic. At least Kurt is here. I tried calling him, but he didn't respond. He was just staring at a stun gun, which I think reminds him of our last moments in the "Sanctuary".
I took a pistol, a pair of stun guns, a few smoke grenades, and an assault rifle that I oddly have a blurry memory about. I wore a pair of boots, then our squad left the room as we are called to a meeting.
