The spring brought colours this year. Dark colours. Colours of wrath, envy, lust and gluttony.
It was a Monday morning and surprisingly the police station at Bandra was not busy. Sameer reached the police station with tears in his eyes.  Looking at his condition the police started asking him questions. A boy, Sameer, seeked justice. Justice for his father's death. He wanted to avenge the death of a man who meant everything to him.
"I am Sameer.... I saw him sir. He murdered my father in front of me and I couldn't do anything. I was tied to a chair. He wore a mask. I couldn't see his face. He shot my dad and took his body. Why would he do that? Find him sir," he said in a single breath.
"Calm down. Saw who? It would be helpful if you describe the man for us. Sameer I know you've been through a lot but you need to tell me each and everything that happened that night."
"I came home late. I went upstairs to check on my dad when someone struck me with a bat on my head. When I opened my eyes, I was tied to a chair. I was semi-conscious and I saw that person kill my father. He lifted him and took him. I wonder why he didn't do anything to me.
I was semi-conscious and I saw that person kill my father. He lifted him and took him. I wonder why he didn't do anything to me. I was semi-conscious so I couldn't see much of him. I only remember this much. The next morning when the milkman came, he untied me and the next thing I did was coming to you."
"I think you should stay in here. With us, in the custody. The man who killed your father can come back to kill you and your safety is now in our hands."
"Okay," he said in a terrorizied voice.
The police started asking more questions. Sameer had answers to some of their questions, but not to all of them. The police recorded his statement, took his signature and started working on the case.
"Sameer, I went to your house. I found nothing. Not even a single fingerprint or a clue which could help us find the killer. But while investigating your case, I also did not find one thing. That is your father's existence. The neighbors told us that your father died two years ago. So who was the man that was killed last night? Why you calling him your father? Let me what happened last night?"
Now that Sameer's father died two years ago, why was he telling the police that his father had been killed the last night? One more thing which the police now knew was that there was that Sameer never had a milkman for the last two years. What was it that Sameer was hiding?
