I opened my eyes. Sunlight filtered through my blinds and I struggled to avoid it underneath my familiar duvet. My mother was always trying to get me to buy a cover for it with her but I refused-it didn't need one.
I already heard my parents walking quietly about the house, I heard my mom's familiar laugh. My dad probably did something "funny" again. I groaned and ducked my head under my covers. Same old me. Flat chested and gangly long legs that badly needed to be shaved. I closed my eyes and desperately tried to fall back to happy dreamland.

No such luck.

I heard my creaky bedroom door open and someone padding toward me in crocs. My mother.

"Baby, come on. it's time to get up. You need to be at Rainier in about 20 minutes." She said softly.

I shot up in bed and instantly forgot I wasn't wearing a shirt. "WHAT. T-twenty minutes?" I stammered. She nodded sweetly. I jumped out of bed and put on my shirt that I had thrown off me in the middle of the night. "Mom why didn't you wake me up?!" I complained. "I wanted you to sleep. You looked so peaceful." She explained. I made an exasperated noise, "Mom we've been over this. If I say to wake me up at seven thirty, you do NOT wake me up at EIGHT thirty!" My mom leaned down to pick up a dirty sock and threw it in my direction. "Well maybe you should get yourself an alarm baby." I rolled my eyes, "Mom I don't have time for this right now, I have to go!" I stalked out of my bedroom brushing past her and locked myself in the bathroom. I badly needed a shower. My hair was greasy and I was starting to smell like my pubescent younger brother. I grimaced and turned the shower on, not bothering for the water to get warm. I scrubbed shampoo into my hair and hurriedly shaved my armpits. I was in no place to take my time. I shaved the back and front of my shins and then turned the water off only beginning to realize I had completely forgotten to put in conditioner!
