CHAPTER #1- REMEMBER
**Mia's POV**
"Where am I?" What happened?" "Where is my family?" are the questions quickly coming to my mind.
A nurse had just walked in looking surprised "You're finally awake!....and it's about time!" the nice woman said with a little chuckle.
"Where am I?" I said hopefully not to rude.
"You're in St.Joseph's hospital, California." The nurse replied quickly before handing me some pills.
I swallowed down the pills and looked back up at the nurse "May I ask what happened to me? I don't have any major injuries or anything..."
The nurse sat on my cot and introduced herself "Before I break out the news I think you should know that my name is Courtney." She said with a fake looking smile.
"Well my name is Mia." I replied knowing that she probably knew already.
"To start....how old are you?" Courtney asked in a more serious tone.
"I'm sixteen." I replied confident, but worried on why she was asking me this silly question.
"Yep! Now do you remember any family members or friends?" Courtney asked almost seeming positive that I would know this one.
"Ummmmm....I remember my mother Stacey, my sister Gretchen, my father John, and my best friends Ashlie and Liam." I said proudly.
"You remember what seems to be everything! I don't see why we even worried." Courtney replied with a huge smile.
"Why would you have been worried in the first place?" I asked concerned.
Courtney placed her hand on top of my left hand....looking worried for what she was about to tell me... "You were in the ocean for vacation... and someone had held you under the water for way to long. You have been unconscious for three days!" Courtney said surprised I remembered none of this.
Before I could reply there was a slight knocking at my room door. "Come in!" I said excited to see who it was.
It was my mom, dad, and sister. They all had fake smiles on their faces, but I could tell they were worried about me...
"I'll leave you four alone...you have some catching up to do. If you need anything just give me a buzz!" Courtney replied with a wink as she walked out the door.
"Did you die?" my annoying eight year old sister Gretchen blurted out.
My mom slapped her in the back of the head "I don't think so..." I replied with a little laugh underneath my breath.
They all sat down around my cot on the small chairs that were set out.
"Are you okay dear?" my mom asked concerned.
"yeah. I just feel like I'm forgetting a couple of major thingy in my life..." I replied trying to remember at the same time.
"The doctor said that you have most of your memory, but a few little pieces of it may be gone for a while..." My mom said a little sad but happy that I didn't loose it entirely.
"Like for how long?" I questioned my mom who seemed like she didn't want to tell me.
"It could be from as long as a few weeks to a whole year." my mom replied with a somewhat comforting tone. I knew she was trying to keep me calm.
"I'm just glad that you're still alive!" my always joking father said with a cheeky grin.
"Thanks dad...it means a lot." I said sarcastically...like always.
"It's good to have you back." my dad stated happily.
"Glad to be back!" I replied trying to sound as happy as possible.
I was still so tired, but not very hungry. I could feel my eyes get very heavy.
"We'll leave you to rest hun." I heard my mom say right before she kissed me lightly on the cheek.
All three of them walked quietly out the door...then everything went dark into a dreamless dream.
