So, today is the day I finally get to visit the school I will be attending in the fall for orientation. Yeah, I applied to a school without knowing ANYTHING about what it looked like. Don't get me wrong, I have seen some photos of the scenery on the schools website but I have learned not to trust anything I see on the internet. Catfish is REAL! In this case , it is more than real.
After a car ride that felt like forever, I finally approach the campus. Yeah, like I said, Catfish doesn't only consist of thirsty people who would do / believe anything to be loved, but also schools who will show only their good spots online to attract students. Well... It worked. "God , how am I gonna spend the next 4 yrs of my life here?" I think to myself as I wish these 27 hours go by as fast as my attention span.
I take out my luggage which consists of my night bag and a pillow out of the trunk and start walking to the dorm I was assigned. "God could this get any worse ?" I say to myself as I enter the brick wall building called "Gallen hall". The halls look like actual prison walls. I am not exaggerating here. Literally , prison walls. I put on a friendly smile for the senior students whose job was to check us in and basically be our go to people for everything . I take a look around the lobby and I see other students checking In. I immediately notice, I've never been in a surrounding where ... I'm basically outnumbered. Racially, that is. I start to feel uneasy for some unknown reason. Until now, I'd never thought about the "invisible hand" that is security in numbers.
