Chapter 18: Dont Call Me That

After Imp finished telling May about his nightmare she stared blankly at him for a few minutes. "May you alright?" Imp meowed seeing the way she was staring at him was getting a little creepy. "Y-Yea..I'm fine its just..that's the most horrible way too die.." May sighed as she looked into Imp's amber eyes. "Ehh..It wasn't t-that bad..even though I couldn't breath.." Imp huffed trying to stay calm. "Imp are you sure that you want to talk about this..I-I don't want too make you feel uncomfortable.." May meowed glancing at the ground. Imp's ears were pinned too his head when May finished speaking he used his paw and raised her chin up so there eyes locked. "Kid-May..don't worry about it..I have to let it out some time.." Imp chuckled. May stared at him "B-But how can you be laughing when were talking about your death! How can you stay so positive!" May yowled pulling herself away from him. Imp sighed before he stood up and sat next to May "Look kid..you may always see it but..its very hard for me to keep this smile on my face right now.." Imp meowed. "I-Im sorry its just...why do you stay so positive all the time..even when we were in bad situations with the Vessels...you stayed positive.." May signed leaning on Imp's shoulder. Imp laughed slightly turning to face May "The reason I stay positive is because..I look too the brighter side of things.." Imp meowed nuzzling May on her head. May smiled as she nuzzled him back before letting a yawn out. "Tried kid..?" Imp chuckled patting May on the head with his paw. "Yea..I forgot we stayed up the rest of the night.." May meowed yawning again. Imp laughed slightly again "Well get some sleep kid I'm sorry for waking you up.." He meowed. May shook her head in disapproval "I won't sleep until you sleep" She meowed. Imp stared at her letting a small chuckle escape his muzzle "Kid I'm dead Reapers dont really have to sleep" Imp laughed. "I know I know I just don't like seeing you like this..." May sighed looking up at him. "Don't worry about it May ill be fine" Imp meowed. "Imp I have a question.." May meowed. "Yea what is it kid..?" Imp meowed back to her. "Do you have a real name?" May huffed. Imp tilted his head confused "Real name?" Imp meowed. "Yea I mean your name is fine but really the name "Imp" just sounds weird" May snickered. "Jee..thanks kid.." Imp sneered with a laugh following soon after. "Oh how about we come up with a real name for you!" May yowled bouncing up in front of Imp. "I kind of like my name but sure why not..MAY-be we can find a good one" Imp chuckled. "Haha..very funny sometimes your puns are just IMP-possible to get" May laughed. "H-Hey!" Imp meowed at her. "Don't hey me if I have to hear your bad puns all the time you have to hear some of mine!" May huffed. "Eheh..sure" Imp purred. "Anyways..names..hmm.." May meowed. After going through a long list of names neither of them liked May and Imp came across one name that made Imp stare at May. "How about Imperia..?" May meowed "I kind of like that name.." She added. Imp stopped laughing from the last few names May came up with and glanced at the ground. "Yea Imperia! I like it!" May meowed proudly of finding a name for Imp. "May no.." Imp hissed slightly. "W-What why Imp? That name is perfect for you!" May meowed protesting. "I said..NO!" Imp yowled walking away from her staggering a few steps forward. "Imp! What is wrong with you! I'm trying to help you but all you do is push me away!" May screamed at Imp as she darted in front of him. Imp didn't make eye contact with her he just stared at his paws. May lashed her tail in furry yelling at Imp "Like it or not I'm calling you it!" May hissed at him. "Don't you dare.." Imp growled as he looked at her the white part of his eyes black. "Or what Imperia?! Your gonna yell at me again!" May yowled her eyes filled with rage. "I SAID DONT CALL ME THAT!!" Imp screeched at May as his tail became bone and the spikes along his back appeared. May took a few steps back her ears pinned at her head as she saw Imp's eyes narrowed at her. "Grr....RAWR!" Imp growled as he turned his head to the side and shot a ball of fire from his mouth too the ground the flames burning the grass. May stood there shocked as she saw Imp take deep breaths seeing the smoke rise from his jaws. "I-Imp..?" May meowed with a shaken voice as Imp raised his head his black eyes locked on her.

AUTHORS NOTE: So I have another theory! We all know the episode when Morven and Imp were talking in Reaper-Tongue and Morven called Imp "Imperia". Maybe Imperia was the REAL name Imp's parents gave him when he was alive. Also maybe when Imp became a reaper he changed his name from Imperia to Imp. So maybe that's why when Morven called Imp "Imperia" and why Imp yelled at Morven saying "Don't call me that". I mean its just a theory...stay tuned to find out what happens next!
