The door opened slowly, followed by some soft and tired steps, that moved forward at a really sluggish pace. The sound of them moving through the smooth, brown wood, was almost unnoticeable. He wasn't being careful or trying to be silent, he was just too tired to make any noise. He walked straight to his bed, leaving the small, black bag pack next to it, and taking his towel to walk to the bathroom.

Half an hour later, ha was out of the bathroom. A oversized t-shirt on him, loose pants hanging on his waist, and his natural curly hair just like that, curly and messy. Almost ready to leave himself fall into his comfortable bed and sleep until the alarm decided to interrupt his tranquility.

But the phone started to ring. It was his mom, and no matter how tired he was, he needed to answer that call. He pressed the green button and put his phone on his ear, right away jumping into his bed.

"Hi, mom!" he said.

"Channie, sweetie, how are you?"

"I'm fine. A little bit tired, tho. Came out of practice not so long ago."

"Oh, I'm glad you're fine. Your father says he misses you, we're so sorry that you won't be able to pass Christmas with us this year."

Chan sighed, in the lowest tone he could so his mother would not hear him.

"Yes, I'm sorry too. Anyways, I hope you enjoy my gifts."

"Hannah and Lucas miss you too. You have to see how much Lucas has grown, he must be as tall as you by now."

Chan laughed, he knew it was a matter of time for his brother to be taller than him.

"Tell him to stop growing, then. Talking about that, I have a really cute dorm mate that should stop growing too."

"Oh, Jeongin? He must really be an adorable person, you talk about him every time I call you" his mother laughed, and so did he "Now I have to say bye, honey. Got some work to do. Have a good night and remember that I'm always here supporting you with everything. You're my son and I'm proud of you, it doesn't matter if I have to wait. I'm glad you're following your dream. I love you."

Tears made its way through Chan's cheeks, and he tried his hardest in controlling his breathe so his mother wouldn't notice. Even though deep inside he knew that there was no way he could hide things from her.

"I love you too, mom..." his voice sounded broken, but she knew he didn't want her to make know, so she acted like she didn't notice it. And the sound of the phone call being hung was everything that made him company for the next few seconds, until he decided to press the red button.

With a hand covering his face, he lay down on the bed, more and more salty and heavy tears coming out of his eyes. His sobs weren't loud, rather quiet, sobs of a person who doesn't want to be noticed, who wants to suffer without involving others.

Jeongin was trying hard, he really was. It wasn't his fault that his brain refused to understand maths. He sighed, it was late night and he wasn't getting any profit out of his studying session, he needed help. He got up, took his notebook and pen with him, and walked out of his room heading towards his hyung's.

Jeongin was really sleepy and had completely spaced out when, without knocking first, he opened the door of Chan's room and entered. The image inside broke and squeezed his heart. Chan, the bright and cheerful Bang Chan that always helped him with a beautiful smile, was crying.

He felt like crying too, it was just too sad to witness. The way his chest went up and down quickly, but his sobs were inaudible. And Jeongin couldn't help but leave his own needs aside for a second, and approach Chan slowly. He sat down at the edge of the bed where Chan was laying, and grabbed Chan's hands, pulling him so he would be seated correctly. He was still sobbing and with his head down, Jeongin's heart was aching, he didn't want to see Chan like that.

He got on the bed too, and rounded the older with his arms, pulling him closer. Letting him cry on his shoulder, while he carefully caressed his hair. Jeongin didn't know when, but at certain point, Chan hugged him, and stood like that for what seemed to be long minutes. Jeongin felt relieved when the boy's chest stopped going up and down fast, and his breathing started to go slowly.

He made Chan raise his head, and carefully cleaned the traces of tears from his cheeks with his thumbs. These were red, and so was his nose, Jeongin couldn't help but think he looked cute. And with his fingers, raised the corners of his lips.

"Smile, please" he said, smiling softly.
