In ordinary spring, a girl was yawning several times and reading the book ‘Pride and prejudice’, dreaming of her ideal man like Mr. Darcyin the café named ‘Reminiscence’. The lights, which shaped a circle, were warm and soft. There were 5 tables with soft sofas and she sat on the sofa at the end of the wall, which seemed to be the most comfortable. She looked around and fixed her eyes on the window at that moment. There was a boy. Everything had a faint halo around him. Pit-a-pat,pit-a-pat, pit-a-pat. Something was alive in her heart.
A girl met a boy.
One fine summer, the girl was going to see the boy. She dressed, wearing a short blue sky skirt, necklace, earrings and putting on bright make-up. Trees were so green and the sun was shining. Birds were singing and kids were running around the park. She kept smiling for a long time. She was waiting in the café. She tasted the coffee, deep and mild. The bell rang very cheerfully. Somebody walked toward her with long steps. Her face was radiant. The boy kissed on her right cheek. He picked up something in his pocket. He opened it. Something was shimmering, filling with her eyes with tears. He hung the necklace that initialed her and his name with a heart shape on her neck.
A girl fell in love with a boy.
In cold autumn, she fidgeted with her necklace. She lifted the coffee with one hand, holding the necklace with the other hand firmly. She drank it all as if it were water. She sighed deeply like endless sea. Her eyes were unfocused. The lights were so dim and dark. She looked at her face in her small mirror. She had no expression. The bell rang heavily and not liltingly. He plodded along and sat down in front of her. He was speechless. A tear rolled down her face little by little. She looked into his eyes. His eyes were empty. He shook his head heavily and left straightaway. Outside the café, the leaves were falling slowly with no color and people trampled them hard unconsciously.
A girl remained without a boy.
In barren winter, she was staring at nothingness and didn’t ever recognize that her coffee got cold. She was trying to read the book ‘Resurrection’ but everything perceived, seemed to be dead as Maslovafelt in the book. Her beauty had left her and her face was time and drawn. She didn’t want to stay here anymore, but her knees went from under her and she sank weakly to the sofa when she saw her boy walking around the park with another girl through the window. She had never seen his bright smile before. Snow fell very lightly, disappearing as soon as it reached on the ground. She started weeping bitterly.
A girl lost a boy.
Since 2005, she has been to the café every day. Things have changed. The door was painted dark brown and the bell no longer existed. The round lights were replaced with big rectangular one. The sofas were replaced by hard wooden chairs. Old books and charming antiques were arranged on the shelves to set a classical mood. But she hasn’t changed. She has never taken the necklace off her neck, fiddling with it whenever she reads a book unconsciously. Her face hasn’t been shining. She orders a coffee and sits on one of the wooden chairs at the end of the wall and starts reading the last chapter of the book ‘The Sorrows of Young Werther’. She gazes at the view through the window. The cherry blossoms are at their best, bringing her back to the spring of 2005. Her mind travels over the events of the season, smiling a little but stops at once. She doesn’t notice who comes bringing her coffee. A man sits down in front of her. Her eyes became round like a rabbit. She tries to think who he is but remembers nothing about him.
“This is your coffee, Josephine.” says the stranger.
“Thanks. By the way, who are you? How do you know my name? Have we met before?”
He looks at her so deeply that he makes her nervous. He looks like the boy she used to love fervently but the mood is different from the boy. He looks warmer and impresses her as being a man of depth.
