Things had definitely changed after the events of the Infinity War between Thanos, the Guardians and the Avengers. It felt unbelievable to have defeated the most powerful Titan, or more accurately, the most powerful being in the universe. And most of the good guys had managed to survive. And of course, that's a lie. Steve Rogers, James Rhodes, Tony Stark and several others were sacrificed in order to bring everyone else back. A very heroic sacrifice, might we add.
Peter caressed Gamora's beautiful, aching body as she slept under the sheets with him. Her soft pale green skin was warm to the touch. He brushed a piece of her hair away from her face as she slept, smiling softly. He held her tightly, his huge muscular arm wrapping around her perfectly. All was calm on the ship. All the Guardians, except Peter, were fast asleep. They had undoubtedly earned their rest.
Slowly but surely, Gamora's breathing became more rapid, before she woke up subtly, sitting up straight, hyperventilating like crazy.
"Hey, hey. Calm down, Gam. Another nightmare?" Peter sighed, hugging her closely as she wept softly in his arms. She nodded silently, "It's okay. Shhhh, it's okay. I'm here now." He lay them back down. Peter knew the nightmares weren't going to stop any time soon. And he wasn't going to stop comforting her. Ever.
