The boys were finally returning from tour today, and I was so excited that I couldn't fall asleep for more than 10 minutes. I haven't seen them since they left 6 months ago, which is quite a long time considering we hung out almost every day before then. Connor is my childhood best friend, and I've been with him through all of the major moments in his life. I was there when the band formed, when they went on their first tour, when they won awards, and now I'm still here for when they return from their world tour.
The plane was supposed to arrive by 5 am, so I planned on showing up and surprising them. I originally told Connor I'd meet up with him later in the day when I wake up at a normal time, but that was never actually the plan. I love greeting him at the airport, and besides, I can't even sleep now, so there's no harm.
I left my house at 4 am so I'd get there early, and have time to make my way to the greeting area. When I was finally settled behind the gate, I pulled my sign out of my bag that read "Welcome Home Boys". Within 15 minutes of waiting, the gates began to open and people were piling out of them. I figured the boys would be slightly delayed, they always were. It was only after a minute or two though when I saw them coming through the sliding glass doors together with all of their bags on a massive cart. I held up my sign and waited for them to see it. Connor was in the back of the group, and he was busy fiddling with the wheels on the cart when Brad looked up and saw me first. He shoved Connor and pointed in my direction, which is when he finally looked up and saw me. The biggest smile formed across his face, and he quickly pushed the cart around the gate before leaving it with the rest of the boys and running over to me. "What the hell are you doing here?" he exclaimed, lifting me up into his arms. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him close to me for the first time in what seemed like forever.
"I wanted to surprise you, I couldn't wait until later to see you. I've missed you too much," I smiled, finally kissing him.
"I've missed you, too. So much. I'm so happy to be home," he said, placing me down. He took my hand in his and we walked over to meet up with the rest of the boys. I welcomed them all homes with big hugs.
We left the airport eventually, and before I could get very far, Connor wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. He kissed the top of my head, and we walked behind the rest of the boys as we headed out to the parking lot. "I've missed this," he said. "Being with you."
"Me too, I'm glad you're home," I said with a smile.
