It was a summer night, 9 p.m and hot as hell outside. Yet I decided for some odd reason I'd take a jog through the neighborhood. My name is Kaiya, Kaiya Anu Reaves, and I just moved into the city, New York to be specific. My mom never supported my decision in moving to the city, she was a countryside gal. She'd always say "Kai, it's too dangerous, you'll get mugged!," or "Kaiya, what if you get hit by a car?" Like that'll ever happen. My mom is a "what if?" person, so she'd always baby me as a child, in fear that I would get hurt or die. Even though I'd be fine in almost any situation. I feel like that's how she got her name, Hisoka, Japanese for cautious and reserved. She used to tell me that living cautious is the best way to live, and that being curious could get you killed. My father never really liked that idea, he'd say "Kaiya, if you really want something you should get it, grab it by the reigns, and ride it home," and of course my mom would always interject with her famous line "curiosity killed the cat." However, I don't think she realized that there was an extra part to that line saying satisfaction brought it back, but I guess she was too stuck in her ways to research the weight and influence of her words. This always had a big impact on the choices I made in life.
