Bright lights and dim thoughts.

The mist began to clear, I held tightly on to my friends hand, afraid she might let go I sped up to match her quickening pace.

I closed my eyes, just got a moment, I opened then back again to see myself in a city...

...what?

I noticed that I had indeed let go of star, crap, I began slowly pacing thinking of my next move.

Drip

Drip

Drip, drip

Drip, drip, drip, drip

What is that?

It sounds like...

Rain...

I looked up to see that it, was indeed, raining.

I looked around taking in everything I could; tall grey buildings surrounded me, black lampposts littered the street I was on, a few benches were carelessly strewn along the pathway, every so often a tree could be found sprouting up with a black-ish rusted fence surrounding it, light from shops lit the street along with the lampposts, a park was situated at one end of the street and last but not least, directly left to me stood a fairly large billboard.

Random people dressed in formal attire with umbrellas, almost robotically, walked along the pathways with stone faces.

I took my time to slowly walk to the billboard and read it, scanning for clues, one large poster covered mostly the entirely of the billboard:

Enter the room its full of fun,
Where you can meet everyone!

Oddly dystopian... or was it utopian?

I shook my head of the mildly concerning thoughts that begin to fill my mind.

That is not why I'm here, to spend hours counting dumb ideas and possibilities, no I'm here to find my way out!

With my new found confidence i turned around only to see star staring at me.

Jesus fucking Christ!!!!

It took me a moment to process and calm myself, well at least I've found her... Jesus Christ, I felt her tug my sleeve and pull me away from the billboard as if warning me of some danger I couldn't see.

"Hey star?" I began, she looked at me and tilted her head slightly like a confused puppy "where are we exactly?" I asked.

"A distant memory, from a friend now forgotten, leave it to die, it's already rotten"

She spoke with such confidence and yet kept a blank expression, which kinda creeper me out, but now the tough question... what did she mean?

I decided to take my chances asking another person, walking up to them I felt star attempting to pull me away, I began with "excuse me but would you happen to know where we ar-" I got pulled away by star as the man simply walked past completely ignoring my existence.

I looked up and down and all around looking for someone, something, anything that could help.

All I found out was that:
1. It rains on everything but me.
2. Drains look gross from a birds eye view.
3. There is a large amount of sticks, everywhere.

I hoped and prayed my plan would work as I leant down to pick up a stick by the park, I had walked all the way up and down whilst searching for ideas, i held it tightly as I walked to a person... star followed me like a lost puppy... was she protecting me or just as scared herself?

Suddenly from nowhere star grabs the stick runs for a moment, to gain sime distance on me, then snaps the stick on her leg.

Oddly enough she then walked back to the park and sat down picking daisies as if nothing ever happened, I sat down with her trying to comprehend exactly what just happened, when she mumbled:

"These people are fake, they are put her to distract, we need to keep going though I do not know to where... for now we need to keep away, don't touch them, they will only hurt you"

She then burst into tears.

My heart shattered at that point as I gave her a quick hug to calm her.

"I know... this is merely a dream to you... we all want to help... we all want to leave... but only you can... we must stay..."

Confusion and sadness washed over me as I felt myself fall...

Fall asleep...

It was the last words I heard as I drifted off...
