I was walking around the neighborhood a little after 7 one night. I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't notice where I was at. I looked around and saw my boyfriend, Ponyboy's, house.

"Ponyboy! Get over here! I'm so sick of you not using your head!" I heard someone holler inside. It was probably Darry, he was always yellin at Pony. I ran over to the house and stopped at the fence, I quietly opened it and walked up the stairs. I could see Pony leaning on the wall with a dull expression, Darry was pacing back and forth in front on him. I couldn't see Soda, but I knew he was probably somewhere near. I waited a couple of minutes, until I heard the door swing open.

"Pony?!" I asked in concern. He was almost crying. I didn't know what to do so I hugged him and kissed his cheek. "What happened?" I asked him.

"It's Darry, he's always hollerin at me!" He started to rant. "He started yellin at me for forgetting to do my homework last night." I held him tight as he talked to me about what had happened. To sum it up Pony forgot his homework in three classes, so the school called home and almost found out that Darry was raising Pony. We were trying to keep it secret so Pony and Soda don't get put in a boys home.

"I'm sorry Pony. Did he hit you?" I asked him. He sat down on the stairs and I followed.

"No, Soda stopped him before he got too mad." He said. I sighed in relief, I hated the thought of Darry one day hitting Pony. "Thanks for being here. I really do appreciate it." He put his hand on my thigh. I smiled at him and kissed his nose.

"Of course I'm here. I love you." I told him before standing up and stretching out my arms. He stood up too and grabbed my hand.

"Come on, let's go get a Pepsi at the Dingo." He smiled.

"Can't say no to that!" I agreed. So we started walking to the Dingo. So lost in our own conversation we forgot all about what had happened just 30 minutes prior.
