The young blonde 9 year old girl looked up at her older sister, watching her pack anything that was valuable or an essential to her. "Jade, please." The little girl begged, her wide blue eyes stare sadly at the girl, whom she called Jade.
Jade, just for a moment, looked back at the innocent girl and actually contemplated staying. But within the moment the thought had occurred to her, it was banished from her mind as she lightly slapped her head saying 'Toothbrush, duh!" She walked out of the room that she shared with her sister into the bathroom to grab the last necessities that she required.
As she returned in the room she saw her sister still sitting there, her large eyes watching her every move. Jade shook the stare of before grabbing her bag. The girl slid of her bed and stood in Jades path. "I can't let you split this family apart. We have to wait for mum to come back." She said raising her squeaky young voice.
"Don't you get it?" Jade replied patiently. "Mum's not coming back."
"What about Dad?" The girl asked forcefully. "He'll come looking for you."
Jade thought about it for a moment before replying "Let him." An amused smile appeared on Jades face before pushing her sister out of the way. She head toward the door, before turning around to say her last words to her sister, before leaving. "You should really consider getting out too you know." She advised seriously, "I would bring you along but you'd only slow me down."
"I wouldn't go anyway," the little girl replied, "I have to wait for mum."
"Artemis. In this family, it's every girl for herself." Jade said to her little sister before hanging her sports bag full of clothes on her shoulder and pulling down her baseball cap over her thick black hair, as she walked out of Artemis' life.
