Chapter 5

"Wow." Was all I said when I sat down at the lunch table. Liz and Ally nodded and kept eating their food. I looked around the table. No one was talking or joking around like they normally would've been. Everyone in the Cafeteria was silent actually. Some girls were crying and hugging and others who hated Stacy were staring off into space.

"Wanna know who they said was seen with her last?" Dan muttered. I looked at him quizzically. The last time I saw that witch she was shaking her big butt down the street with...Oh My God. Hood Guy. Did he take her?! And he isn't here today either...Crap! So I almost liked a murderer...that could've been me...

I guess I was shaking cause I felt Dan hugging me. "Shhhh...Kerry it's okay I won't tell you if you're that freaked out. I was just...I don't know what I was doing I'm sorry." He kissed my head and I started feeling better.

"You guys are so cute," Liz sighed and cast a glance at Frankie. He had staring at her and he looked down blushing when she looked at him.

"Those two need to get over this shyness. They've been like this since freshman year!" I whispered to Dan and he chuckled. "Wait I have an idea," I smiled at Dan evily and rubbed my foot up and down Frankie's leg. He looked across the table at Liz who was glancing at him every now and then and smiling. He smirked and I felt Liz stiffen next to me as I assumed Frankie was playing footsie with her. I burst out laughing when she got up and ran out of the lunchroom.

"What did you do?" Dan asked while Frankie looked after her.

"I-haha-I made Frankie think Liz was playing footsie with him and then he-haha-he-ahahah!" I leaned against Dan and laughed some more. Frankie jumped out of his seat.

"Holy shit that was YOU!?" He yelled and ran after Liz. "LIZ I CAN EXPLAIN! WAIT!" He yelled as he ran out the door. Everyone in the cafeteria was staring at us like we were insane, not that they didn't do that everyday, but it was kind of...different today. What was wrong with these people?

"How can you people laugh and joke around when one of the most amazing people in the school dissapeared last night?" A high-pitched preppy voice said from behind us. I turned around and saw a Stacey groupie with red-rimmed eyes glaring at us. "I thought emo people were always supposed to be sad pathetic people." She spat and I stood up, despite Dan trying to pull me back down.

"You wanna know why we can just get over it so fast? That bitch ruined our lives for as long as we can remember. So excuse me if I can't find one fiber in my whole entire BEING that gives a damn about that witch. Now go back to your group of skanks prep!" I yelled and sat back down. Normally I'm never that mean. Well I guess I was to them...but still I didn't normally make a public scene when I told them off. I stabbed a noodle covered with cheese sauce and popped it into my mouth. Ah the carbs! The glorious carbs! Mwhahaha!!!! Anyway. Everyone at the table was silent and I was getting worried. "What is wrong with everyone today!" I yelled. I know that they would NEVER be sad about something like this! So WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG!?

No one said anything so I got up and tossed my tray into the trash. Poor Mac and Cheese. I never got to even eat it! They watched me storm out and I walked to my locker.

"Kerry!" I heard Liz yell to me. I turned to look at her and saw Ally was next to her looking nervous. I leaned against my locker and took a deep breath.

"Okay guys what is up?" I asked seriously. Liz hesitated and I saw Ally start to shake with tension. Liz was still silent.

"WE ALL GOT TOLD THAT THE GUY WHO TOOK STACEY MIGHT BE OUT TO GET YOU!" Ally yelled and let out a deep breath.

Talk about caving under pressure.

"Say again?" I asked.

"Look that guy who always wears his hood? Well they think he was the last person to be with her, but he says that he was only with her because her car broke down on the side of the road and he was just walking her home. He said he was kind of pissed off after the fight at McDonalds and that's why he was so rude to you guys, but he wasn't mad enough to kidnap anybody. But they said that he had a picture of you in his pocket. You were with Dan or someone and he had scribbled out the guy with red ink. We're just afraid for you Kerr-bear. This guy could be psycho!" Liz explained.

"And remember how he got in a fight with Dan? It makes sense." Ally said quietly.

"I don't think we have anything to worry about guys. I can take care of myself don't worry." I said and hugged them. I walked back into the lunchroom and everyone stared at me. I got more Mac and sat next to Dan. He kissed my cheek and said he was sorry and the day went on. Life went on.

Dan and I were walking home when he stopped and I turned to him confused. He looked really serious. "Kerry I want you to have this okay?" I looked down at his hand and he held out a can of pepper spray to me. I looked at him weirdly. Was he that paranoid too?

"Dan you really don't have to worry. I'm going to be fine it's just a stupid rumor." I sighed.

"Please? It will let me sleep at night." He begged. I sighed and nodded. Then got this nice little thought.

We got to the place where we normally split up. I grabbed his collar and smashed my mouth against his, When he started to kiss me back I pulled away and waved bye to him. He stood there shocked and watched me go. I smirked to myself.

"You can't get away that easily," He growled and kissed me hungrily. I don't know how long we were standing there but when he started to lift my shirt I remembered where we were and pushed him away.

"Dammit Dan I'm not sleeping with you on the street!" I laughed. He laughed and grabbed for me. "I'll see you tomorrow." I kissed him one more time and walked away.

"Be safe!" He yelled after me.

Damn I guess I really do like him. I smiled and skipped home. He was an awesome kisser.
