"Ohh Jesus," I sighed as the test proctor said that I only had 5 minutes remaining. I said a prayer as I quickly glanced at my remaining ten math questions. To say I was in an ideal situation right now would be an understatement.
My mother thought it would be good for me to attempt to get into this private school called Greenhouse Academy. The place seemed nice, and to be honest you couldn't beat the location, C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A ! The scent of the ocean filled the halls and you couldn't walk a foot without seeing a palm tree. Unless you were inside the school, of course.
"Two minutes remaining," The proctor stated. By now I was the last person taking an exam, nothing. I let out a huge sigh, Okay Olivia. You have 7 questions left and 3 minutes. Let's just guess away.
I quickly read the questions and made an educated guess based on words I kind of remembered from my studying. Isosceles is a triangle thing right ? I would also be lying to you if I didn't just guess C on a couple of them.
Once I 'finished' my exam I quickly headed up and turned my tablet into the test proctor. Yes you heard me correct, tablet ! Instead of a standard number 2 pencil and fill in the bubble technique, we were given tablets which was actually very nice for someone who changes her answers.
The woman grabbed my tablet and plugged it into a computer.
"I'm sorry, but it appears my computer has died. Usually students don't take this long on the exam, so usually I don't need to bring my charger. Please wait here," the test proctor added as she left the room.
I definitely failed that exam.
"I'm sure you did fine," I heard a voice say as he packed up his guitar. Yes, once again you heard me correctly, guitar. The test proctor said that they wanted to test us under extreme circumstances, so she had one of the students play a classic rock on the guitar as we took our exam.
I let out a slight chuckle, "Thanks," I replied as I sat down in one of the desks.
"Which house are you trying to get into ?" he asked attempting to continue the conversation.
"The bird one ?" I added trying to remember which one my mom filled out on my application.
He let out a small chuckle and went back to packing.
After a few more seconds of silence I asked, "Do people normally take that long on the exam ?"
He paused for a second, "Usually not, but to be honest I haven't seen anyone pass the exam in this exam section yet. So you have good as a chance as anybody."
"How do you know if people pass ?" I quickly questioned.
"Their body language," he shrugged as he began to leave with his guitar and other miscellaneous items.
"Good luck bird," he said as he left the room.
The second he left the woman came right back in.
Perfect timing
I could barely sit still as she plugged in her computer.
What if I didn't make it ?
Well then you can just find another private school to get into. Plus the next one might not have passive aggressive teachers that 'forget' to bring their computer chargers.
"Congratulations !" the woman said as he handed me back my tablet.
I made it
"Thank you !" I said as she handed me back my tablet that was now bright green.
I smirked as I saw the light. That's how the guitar kid knew, he was just looking at the tablets.
"Which house did I get accepted into ?" I questioned as I packed up my belongings.
"Ravens, since you are not an athlete you cannot try out for the eagles," she responded as we both headed out of the room.
And that is why the guitar guy laughed at me, they are both bird houses.

"How did you do," my mom questioned as she met me in what appeared to be the main hall.
"Passed," I said as I hugged my mom.
"Ok so you have your basic essentials in your backpack ?" she quickly asked.
"Yeah," I replied.
"I'm so proud of you Olivia, I know you will do great. You will remember this turning point for the rest of your life," she added before saying goodbye.
I then went to go check in and pick up my uniform.
"Go change in those restrooms into this uniform, and come back here," a person who I was assuming a teacher said.
Once I walked into the restroom/changing room, I quickly noticed another girl was there.
"Hey !" I replied as I placed my stuff down next to hers.
"Hey," she coldly responded.
"Okay, it's been driving me crazy all day what was the song that the guitarist was playing while we were taking our entrance exam ?" I asked in attempt to keep the conversation moving.
"I don't know but I wanted to tell him to turn it up," she said as she laughed.
"Yes, but only to piss off the condescending guy next to me," I replied while buttoning up my house. I really hoped I didn't have to wear this for the rest of my life here. Hopefully they have other uniform options.
"What was he saying ?" she seemed intrigued.
"My parents went to Harvard and are both Harvard lawyers," I mocked as I attempted to fix my hair in a mirror.
"Do you know if that asshole made it ?" she asked. "Because if he did I didn't know if I could last three days without punching him," she added while buttoning up her shirt.
"Nope, the guitar guy told me that no one before me made it," I replied trying not to sound cocky. She must have been in the first morning test section.
"I'm Olivia by the way," I added before we headed our separate ways to the acceptance ceremony.
"Stephanie," she responded. I smiled as I saw a raven sigil on her suit jacket.
