----?---- (story inspired by movie 'Tomb Raiders')
She woke up on a floor, squeaky and old, one she didn't recognize, but her vision was too hazy for her to make out where she actually was. She groaned and tried to sit up, only failing to fall back to the ground. The pain on her stomach, knees, and arms, pretty much everywhere, was unbearable. Her face, was on fire, that's at least what it felt like. After her eyes regained consciousness, she blinked. She appeared to be in an abandoned home, it was filthy, and looked like no one set foot here for at least a decade, but if she were to think that, who brought her here? Fear stroke into her, she was in danger! Or maybe so, it was quiet, except for the gust of winds that can be heard outside the broken windows, and the occasional screeching of doors going back and forth, in the rhythm of the wind. Dust was piled everywhere, making her want to sneeze, she held her fingers up her nose, she didn't want to make any noise, no, now is not the time. She wasn't sure if someone was here.
The house seemed to be three stories, a rather large house, since their were so many stairs. Pieces of fabric littered the floor, as if a bear has fought something here and destroyed the house while at it, since planks of wood were sticking up the floor. This house was rotten, and she wanted to get out of here as quick as she can. She winced, trying to make a second attempt to stand up, she used the dresser cabinet to help here stay on her feet. She was successful, but one leg was so painful it was agonizing, but she kept her mouth shut for the sake of her safety, even though their were a few stifled groans here and there. She grabbed a nearby cane to help her walk, which was fortunate. She took a glance around the house, it had some sort of terrifying vibe to it, she could somehow hear the screams of other children that took place here. She wasn't sure how she got that feeling, maybe that she was probably kidnapped. The floor was gray, even though it had a navy blueish tint to it. Probably a color change due to the house's age. The walls were a measly yellow, it had rust and scratches of wood scattered across the planks, it was unsettling to look at. Maybe her kidnapper wasn't human, maybe a bloodthirsty creature that hungers for the blood of children. She shivered thinking about it, though she doubted it, how could such a thing exist in this world?
Every step she took made a small squeaking sound, she cringed at every noise, her fear just growing in her chest. She blinked a couple of times before she found a door, but it was barricaded with planks that was attached with nails to keep her from opening it. Her heart started pounding, was she trapped? She swallowed a lump in her throat, trying to not cry and scream of fear. She just wanted to go home. She quickly pulled out an old, wrinkled note out of her dress pocket. She needed to stay calm if she were to escape this horrid place. She took a deep breath whilst she read the rather damaged note.
Hi sunshine!

Sprout sniffed, she folded the note and stuffed it back into her pocket. She limped across the room, trying to find any route to escape, or any food or water to be precise. All the windows were blockaded, even though the house seemed weak, it wasn't about to fall down on it's foundation just yet. She encountered a kitchen behind the staircase and stiffened, she hoped not to come across her kidnapper, that would be the end of her. She found a glass and filled it with tap water, she gulped it down and took a breath once finishing it. She also found a piece of loaf, wolfing it down in two bites. She realized what she did and hoped it wasn't poisoned. Her next choice was to head upstairs. She took a shaky breath, knowing that if she took a step on these stairs, there would be loud creaking noises. She went up at the wooden rails, trying to be as light weight as possible. Her technique worked and climbed off the rail without making a sound. She looked behind her and saw an open window, she gasped quietly and made her way to the window, but it was a two story drop. There was a ladder she could see up in the attic. She swiftly made her way to it, though it was heavy, she tried her best to bring it forth the window, but to her horror, she didn't realize, that a masked man, was sleeping on a couch in the room next to her, a newspaper dangling from his hands.
Sprout's heart was racing, and she quietly made her way to the window. She took a deep breath, then proceeded to drop the long ladder to the ground, making a noisy thump! Sprout flinched at the sudden noise and looked at her kidnapper, he shifted and groaned, but kept his eyes shut and snoring loudly. Sprout cringed and made her way down the ladder, she was free! She forgot her cane though, but it was a good thing that the pain in her leg lessened, she then just realized the horrible wounds on her body, and now, when she first woke up, she remembered nothing. Her memory was hazy, but she remembered someone abusing her and knocking her out. Her vision was too blurry to make out who exactly did that, probably the sleeping man down back on that house. Sprout growled silently before trying to escape the forest, the house was isolated, which made the situation more scary.
Sprout gulped and made her way down the forest, birds chirping and the rustling of bushes and leaves here and there. It still didn't calm her though, she felt.. watched. She quickened her pace, and before she knew it, she was running for her life. She tried to ignore the pain in her right leg as much as she could, tears were welling up in her eyes as she did so. She then found herself a town, a small one, it even took a while to get here. For a 12-year-old, she has alot of stamina, and is decently fast also. She still had the lingering feeling of being stalked and followed, so she ran towards the town. She didn't dare scream for help, she's seen enough movies to see what happens to that one guy who screamed help then got himself murdered because the whole town was actually one huge satanic cult.
She ran to the town, staying in the sidelines, it seemed.. empty? Was this also abandoned?
"Where am I..?" Sprout mumbled, her eyes scanning every direction of the small shops and restaurants, no one was found. A tumbleweed shuffled through the area, what is this? The desert? Even vines and vegetation were growing on the built homes and stores.
