a/n: as a new year gift and part of my resolution, I am glad to announce that I'll be continuing this book. Thank you for the long wait and I wish you a happy new year, enjoy!

Sohee

Silence erupted continuously between the two of us, only sounds of paper flickering and keyboard typing vigorously could be heard by the surrounding to hide the fact that the fact that Kihyun might not be who he claimed to be had managed to creep the hell out of Hyungwon and I. We were at Hyungwon and Minhyuk's shared apartment, but the other owner had a family trip for two weeks so we had this place for ourselves.

"Just don't touch my stuff, I know how chaotic it can be if you guys are bored." Minhyuk's reminder made me snicker, he was saying that in a tone of a father scolding his young kids through the phone. He didn't know we liked to mess around only when he was present, his reaction was all we needed really. My smile faltered after the silly thought became averted to the endless search from the pages of my summer camp's yearbook throughout the years in which I took from home. It had no clues or sightings of him anywhere even if I had flipped the pages over and over while grasping every details my eyes could see, a tint of anxiety began to slowly occupy my brain.

"It's somewhat a pity that we couldn't ask Minhyuk about him." I whispered in a low voice and Hyungwon only nodded once before focusing back to his laptop screen. We both knew it would be too weird to ask him out of the blue. Minutes became hours as we had been trapped in the living room for a solid two and a half hours, I came up with one conclusion:

There's no Yoo Kihyun.

"There's no Yoo Kihyun!" I was startled at my thought being voiced out by the lean man with ruffled hair besides me. He kept his growl low as he covered his face in frustration, shutting his eyes for a moment since he had focused too much on the laptop screen. I took a peek and he was as clueless as I was, "This guy doesn't pop up anywhere. He has no social media in any kind of platforms, not even an e-mail account. How can someone be so private at his age? It doesn't make sense."

"Are you sure you type his name right? His surname is Yoo." He gave me a dirty look, as if I was underestimating him as I shrugged, "Just checking."

"Wait, I barely saw him holding his phone." He extended his long arms out, face expressing realization.

"You only met him twice." I glared, "Maybe he's one of those people who doesn't like social media or exposure, enjoying life without technology and such. He supposedly wrote letters for me and we only contact each other via text or call, remember?"

"Then how is it possible that our friends know who he is? If he's from Japan, he never talks about anything, he has an odd accent like someone from the past, such a local name and I doubt he asked for every single phone numbers of our friends." Hyungwon's doubt began to grow in me, "Sohee, I've been meaning to say to you about Kihyun for the longest time- He is around you almost all the time right after you had the accident. It's also alarming that he knew too much about your past relationship, I doubt you were the one who gave him those details."

I didn't think much about it when I first approached Hyungwon to help me find out about Kihyun, but seeing how our speculation slowly molded into a potentially horrifying reality drove me to the edge. My mind couldn't process what was happening, why everything happened, and who were these people. My memory was messed up, an endless path of fog as I couldn't pinpoint exactly how the things in my life turned this way- It was too illogical for my understanding, I began to refuse.

"To elaborate one of your points, he did sometimes use old Korean to speak." I gulped, "Whatever, maybe we're not searching enough, we probably missed something." My eyes began to water as I forced a smile, "Let's keep on looking."
