Yayyy another chapter
Hajara's POV
Classes are over. I had already packed my books in my bag and i straightened my hijab and walked over to Hanna's table.
We rushed to the school mosque to say our Asr prayers.
After, we left the school and walked to a near by shop for some snacks before heading to the community library to revise for our upcoming WASSCE.It's almost a month to our exams and we are on a week break from school due to the severe harmattan we are experiencing in our part of the region.
I have already written about three letters to different shops and companies so that i can work right after completing school to support myself and grandma.
I asked permission from my grandma and took a bus to Hanna's house.
I promised to visit her."Antiri Aunty Farida" i greeted Hanna's mom who i met right in front of their gate.
"Naa. How are you doing dear? " she asked.
"Alhamdulilah Aunty I'm fine" "Hanna is upstairs, you came to meet her right? "
I nodded my head and she waved her had signaling me to go. I waved back at her and made my way to Hanna's room.Hanna's mom was uprooting the weeds in her little flower garden which she planted right in front of their entrance.
I remembered those days when she use to pluck one flower each for Hanna and i each time i visited them.
Aside from being a flower fanatic, she is also an interior designer.
She is a hardworking woman and works diligently.
Their house is a living testimony of how beautiful she does her work.
Her dad who is a charted accountant hardly stays at home. He's always in different countries and he has won many awards due to how hardworking and truthful he is.I use to have the perception that all rich people are rude due to the experiences i faced growing up as a semi- needy person.
But Hanna's family changed my perception.I became friends with Hanna when she had to drop out of the international school she was attending to join my school which was a public school due to the financial crises her family were going through at that time. Her dad was in school in the states and her mother was working under a company whose salary was nothing to write home about.
We were lucky to have been selected among those to benefit from the scholarship that came to our school at that time.
We were both beneficiaries and worked very hard to still be in it.Even after things became better in her family, she refused to go back to an international school and changed my wardrobe when my mates at school kept teasing me due to my worn up clothes i wore to school. "Hajara! " i heard someone call my name in my ear.
"ouch! " i screamed
"What's wrong with you Hanna! " i exclaimed.
"Are you asking me what's wrong with me?
I have been calling your name like since forever but looks like you are lost in Jupiter thinking about your prince charming " she said smiling
I smiled back at her.
" Now tell me what have you been thinking about? "
"Lol nothing much" i replied laughing harder this time around.
She raised her brow and looked at me like i have grown horns.
I shrugged my shoulder and sat on her messy bed thinking about how i got into her room without realising it.
We continued our chit chat till it was time for me to leave .
Hanna also wanted ice-cream so she begged her elder brother Fawaz who is in the university to drop me home and take her to get her ice-cream.Please comment guys.
