INTO THE DARKNESS
Sigh.
He can't remember the last time he had been this tired. His back just wouldn't stop complaining to him, every single motion he does will trigger his spine to shoot minute jolts of creeping pain. But this is not something that could bend him, he'd been through a lot already and backache is a more welcomed agony than sticks and stones. And he had a pretty fair share of those growing up, so this is just next to nothing.
He rested his back against the wall and hugged the round tray up to his chest as he let out a heavy sigh. Dash can still remember how Ms. Saphanadtong, the librarian, made him carry and unpack all the newly arrived books in the library. It appears that he's the only one who was assigned to the library, the rest of the 'slaves', or officially known as Self-Supporting Students, are assigned to different facilities of the school.
And he can tell that his 'master', or properly known as Custodian, is a stern tall old slender pale-skinned gun-wielding woman. She has this stereotypical aura of a librarian --- complete with a half-moon framed glasses placed low on her face and a measuring stick she always carry around for some unknown purpose. Dash must be very careful not to cross her path or put a toe out of the line, or she will eviscerate anyone who will. For Dash, that will be the end of him, and his dreams.
"Hey!" A voice and a searing pain on the top of his head pulled Dash back into the present.
Dash felt the smack on his head before he could even hear the word uttered by the person standing right next to him.
"Uiiiiii...." Dash hissed while docking and rubbing his head where the hand landed. "Why did you that?"
The person chuckled before answering him. "You're spacing out again."
"You didn't have to hit me, Ai'Sheki." Dash showed him his defeated look. "It hurts."
"'Coz I'd been calling your name for several times already." Sheki shook his head and smiled. "Go get the order of table 24. Their order is now ready. Hurry up so we can close down, their the last customers."
