(Pastel's POV) (I know I hate switching point of views, but since I already have twice, I figured I could switch off every other chapter. So it'll go Pastel, Christian, Pastel, etc.. I've seen some other very good books do this, therefore I'm hopeful it will work, without being annoying.)
After I talked Christian into ditching the show, we walked to the Starbucks just down the road. The walk was short, yet quiet. Not to mention awkward. What can I say? I was so excited to talk to him, I'm just waiting for the right moment. My hand still on his wrist, I pulled him through the doors of the coffee house. I turned slightly to him.
"Two hot chocolates?" I asked, seemingly breaking him out of his thoughts.
He shook his head, zoning back on the present time. Looking back down at me, he stammered, "Oh, uh, yeah. Extra whipped cream?"
I grinned at this, "That's common sense," I began to walk towards the front counter, "You better pick a good table though."
After laughing lightly, he mumbled, "No promises," under his breath.
Many thoughts came rushing to my mind, as I approached the counter. Of course, I pushed them away so I wouldn't mess up the order.
"Hello ma'am, what would you like to order today?" The barrista asked, in an obviously fake cheery voice.
I decided to copy this, "I would definitely love two hot chocolates with extra whipped cream, please." My smile stretched to my ears.
Her face dropped, slightly, "Of course, right away." She turned away, grumbling to herself.
A few moments later, she returned with the drinks, which I then paid for. I didn't waste anytime rushing back to our table, and sitting across from Christian. Yet again, that seemed to break him out of his thoughts. I slid it across the table to him.
"Oh, uh, thanks," He spoke, as he stopped his cup from sliding off the table, "I can pay you back for that, if you want."
My mouth was now full of whipped cream, as I shook my head, repeatedly. I took a big gulp. "Nope, not necessary. Besides, I already said I was buying."
"Well, you got me there," He dove into his hot chocolate, as well. A few minutes of silence passed before he spoke again, "So, how about that weather?"
That awkward outburst made me laugh, "It's pretty nice, a little windy." I looked down at my drink for a moment, when I realized I had something to show him. Quickly, I scrambled up and out of my seat.
"Wait, where are you-"
He was cut off, as I now stood next to him. Lifting my pant leg slightly, my small ankle tattoo was revealed to him. He eyed it closely before asking, "Wha-what does it say?"
I shifted my jeans back down, "You better come back if you're running, y'know," Looking down, slightly embarrassed, I continued, "From the song."
He smiled, warmly, "That's so-"
"PASTEL!" A loud yell came from the doorway, along with a slam.
Christian's eyes shot over to the sound right away, meanwhile, I took a deep breath, before turning around. "Ara! Hey, what's up?"
She rolled her eyes, as she approached me, "You need to get back to the venue. People are asking for pictures. And not just with Toronto or Seth," Her voice wavered at the name Seth, "Come on, Pacifier, let's go," Her thumb pointed towards the door.
My face went red, "Don't call me that in front of my friend," I angrily whispered back to her.
Her eyes passed around me so she could see Christian, "How come I've never met him before?" She crossed her arms.
"Uh, he's an old friend," I pulled Christian up and out of his seat. "Christian, this is Arabelle, my friend and band-mate."
An awkward handshake took place, before he wondered, "Is she your friend from the concert?"
Arabelle raised an eyebrow at me, but I only shook my head, "No, I haven't seen Demi in years." Now, she was tapping her foot on the ground, signalling her impatience. "Sorry, Christy, I've gotta get back to the venue now, but we're going to be here in Chicago for a few days."
"Right, uh, I've got to get back to Damon anyways," He explained back to us.
Ara wasted no time clenching onto both of our wrists, "Well, c'mon, we don't have all night," She, then, begin to drag us out of the building, not before Christian and I shared small smiles.
