Victory!”

The announcer exclaims as the enemy base turret crumbles to the ground, its light dying out as it collapses into broken pieces. The heroes surrounding it rejoiced and basked in their success while the enemies stood in defeat and disappointment. A long-standing power struggle took place before their eventful victory.

Alucard, in his weary state, slouched his back a bit after assisting in taking down the turret. Scratches and cuts littered his face while his hand that held his signature sword trembled in fatigue. His mouth was ajar as heavy pants fell out his lips, sapphire eyes scanned his teammates who erupted in cheers and excitement. He too can’t help but smile a bit at their little antics. Then during his daze, a gentle hand rests upon the hunter’s heaving shoulder, instinctively, he turns his head to meet those gentle, pupiless ivories and a soft smile that can make a person melt.

“I think it’s time to fix you up.” Estes suggests and lifts a hand up at the hunter, palm towards him, aiming at the exhausted fighter. A sky blue trail of magic was then emitted from the elf king’s hand and directly connects to the blond, healing him and treating his wounds. Alucard felt rejuvenated and straightened his back after his injuries vanished. Signs of exhaustion and fatigue finally faded away along with the wounds. He flashed the elf king a friendly smirk and gave him a soft pat on the shoulder in appreciation.

“Thanks for your help. Couldn’t have done it without you.”

And with those kind words, the hunter turned on his heel and left to return back to base, leaving the stunned healer by himself and a few other heroes behind. Estes couldn’t believe his ears. Days ago the hunter was bitter, rude and was plainly awful to him, and even refused his help. But now, it’s like staring at a whole new person. Perhaps the blond finally came to a change of heart? Or maybe he finally agrees that not always he will survive on his own, finally acknowledging Estes’ efforts for him.

The healer couldn’t help but smile warmly back at the statement as he watched Alucard’s form get smaller and smaller by the distance. Perhaps the hunter isn’t how everyone perceives him to be. Maybe he’s just misunderstood. Maybe he can still change. Maybe he’s different.

Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months. Alucard and Estes’ relationship increased drastically within such span of time. The two grew to become very close. On the battlefield, foes feared them. They were like an unstoppable power duo. Their skill in teamwork is incredible, as if the other can read the other’s mind, no communication needed. Alucard worked his way up in the front, battling a hero, sometimes two or three while Estes stayed on guard at the back, consecutively healing his partner, providing support with his magic and occasionally trapping enemies in his devastating circle, either slaying them or leaving them victims for the demon hunter.

But of course, not always did they emerge victorious. They had their fair share of losses and defeats. Nevertheless, the two stayed strong and still had each other’s backs, not losing the will to fight, refusing to give up.

“Well that was awful.”

“Indeed. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to heal you in time.”

“Don’t sweat it. And I’m sorry for not being able to protect you.”

“It’s alright. We’ll get them next time.”

Through their journey, eventually both started to develop feelings for one another. The other heroes noticed this and teased them nonstop about how cute they’d be as a couple. Alucard mostly receiving most of the relentless taunts from his best friends Zilong and Clint. On the outside, he’d show trepidation and denial, but on the inside, he relished in those words.
