How to act like strangers with somebody that you used to love?
Sophie would ponder night after night. Every morning she looked into the mirror.
She continued to wake up, still wanting him so bad that it almost made her bones shake. As if someone was really holding her heart in tight fist and squeezing it.
She hated the state that she was left in. Nothing could make her heart beat the same as being around him. She smoked. Drank. Drove 100 miles per hour on freeway just to achieve the same rush of heart. But it didn't help. It wasn't the same. Not enough.
"How are you today?" Roxy asked as she was here for final suit fitting.
"Fine. I guess?" Sophie gave agent stiff smile.
"Do you still think of him?" Roxy didn't need to call names, but both of them knew perfectly about who that was.
"Everyday." Sophie chocked out. Too afraid to look up at Roxy. Roxy wanted to say something when Sophie looked up at her:
"You look amazing by the way. You should show off to Percival." Sophie smiled genuinely even if her eyes were full with tears.
Roxy sighed and opened her mouth to speak--
"Come one, lets go. I think he's still around." Sophie grabbed Roxy's hands and went out of Fitting Room.
To her most unfortunate day of all her life, she had to run into him.
"Morning, sir." Sophie said quietly and walked around him, not raising her eyes up. Eggsy's light eyes followed her.
"'Morning, Eggsy." Roxy smiled sadly at him.
"Hey, Rox." Eggsy sighed finally looking at fellow agent.
"How is she?" Eggsy dared to ask after internal debate.
"Ask herself not me." Roxy patted him on the shoulder and went to another fitting room.
Sophie's eyes darted around the tailor shop, with Roxy gone, she wasn't sure she could stand to be in one room with Eggsy.
Looking at the table in front of her for some time, she cleared her throat. Rising her eyes up at him, she realized that Eggsy has been watching her all this time.
"How's Tilde?" Sophie asked softly, biting her lip and looking back down at the table.
"She's al'ight." Eggsy answered stepping closer to the counter where Sophie was standing behind.
Girl nodded but stayed silent.
"Hey, Richards." Eggsy started quietly now standing in front of the counter and looking how she was working with fabrics.
Sophie inclined her head, showing that she still was listening. But in truth, only scared to look in his eyes.
"How does it come, that you haven't told me ya name?" Eggsy looked at her, hoping she'll look up.
"It never mattered, right?" Sophie answered simply, but it held so much more. Eggsy furrowed his brows for a second. Was he reading in too much?
"Does it matter now?" He questioned carefully.
I don't think so. Sophie wanted to tell.
"Does it matter now?" She opts to repeat quietly.
"Can we start from the beginning?" Eggsy pleaded.
How can I start from the beginning? I'll just fall for you more! Are you trying to torture me?
"I'm not sure if that's great idea." Sophie said, voice laced thick with sadness, eyes filling with tears again.
"Please?" Eggsy asked hopefully.
Sophie took deep breath to steady herself. She nodded, eyes still glued to the fabric on table.
She could hear that Eggsy left out a breath that he even didn't know that he was holding.
She expected for him to go away now, but he didn't.
"I'm Eggsy, by the way." He said. And a hand appeared in girl's field of vision. She slowly raised her eyes to meet his.
"Sophie." She chocked out, tears streaming down her face. Eggsy froze, looking at her.
"You're killing me, Eggsy." She smiled, blinking away tears.
Eggsy's hand reach out for her, but Sophie took a step back.
"Don't worry. I'm used to fall in love with people who doesn't love me back."
