Willow Hope felt unwanted. Willowy was an eleven year old girl with bright shining eyes as blue as the sea and an a Million freckles upon her face. Not to mention her handsome firey red hair.
Her dad was out on the exhausting search for a job leaving Willow with her brother Jack Hope. Her sixteen year old brother was not a hateful person but he wasn't the nicest either.
Jack rarely ever paid attention to Willow much to her dismay. All she wanted was to be loved by him, but most unfortunately she was to shy and didn't have the courage to tell him. But like all great stories, that was all about to change.
The Hope family lives in Key West Florida, a small town were jobs and dream were scarcest. This is why the children's dad, William Hope, was never home. He was looking for a job like countless others.
Jack and Willow's mom, Grace Hope, had died a little after Willow was born taking peaces of her family with Her.
Jack being the oldest had to provide for himself and Willow. But Willow doesn't want to be there with him. Not really. One hot, cloudless day in July Willow was reading on the porch of there small, rickety, old house. With her dad and brother constantly gone books were her only friends.
She loved reading, her favorite book being Little House On The Prairie. While reading all of her problems dissolved as she dived into the problems of your fictional friends.
She always wanted an exhilarating adventure like Laura Ingalls or Nancy Drew but unfortunately for her nothing ever happens in old Key West.
Willow was so into her reading that she didn't notice her brother walking up the ally.
Jack's eyes were glazed over with tiredness and his feet were as heavy as rocks. Willow, struggling to pull herself back into reality, eagerly looked up and quickly shut her book.
"Jack your home! Oh how terribly lonesome it has been with out you." but Jack just strolled passed like she wasn't even there. Willow let out a deep sigh, put down her book, and walked miserably into the house.
Jack was leaning on the kitchen table stuffing his face full of what looked like bread when Willow walked in. "Jack where were you last night?" She asked worryingly. "You look awful tired."
"I was tick-tocking with Charles, Frank, and George. Fred couldn't make it." He replied drowsily. Tick-tocking is where you take s rock, tie it to a string (long enough to reach a roof) and when they fall asleep you toss it over the roof onto the window and pull. It will make a horrifying sound and scare the wits out of in the house.
"But Jack!" cried Willow nervously. "Daddy specifically told you not to do the again." This was true. William Hope was a very Sirius man and didn't like things out of order.
But Jack on other hand. Was the complete opposite. He liked to live freely and live by his own rules. "Daddy isn't here now is he?" replied Jack slyly as he turned away about to walk out like nothing happened.
"You know what!?" Cried Willow. " I don't want to be in this family anymore! I'm tired of toy never paying attention to me. I'm tired of Dad always being gone. I'm done!"
Jack stood there in disbelief. Willow, his sweet little book loving sister, one of the shyest people he knew, was yell and letting all of her emotions out. She was crying, yet her face and temper were flaming red to match her hair.
"Fine then if your so done with this family then why don't you just leave?" he said, but as soon As he did he immediately regrets it because the next thing he knew Willow had ran up the creaky old stairs, grabbed her backpack (Filled with books of course) And bolted out the door.
