The sudden ring of the doorbell jolted me out of my stationary state, as I rushed to the door skipping in excitement knowing it was my girlfriend arriving from work. My day was finally turning around and my stomach was finally getting filled... or so I was convinced. When I flung open the door I expected a "Baby! I brought the Chinese you wanted!" in Skylars cute high pitched voice. Instead I was greeted with sobbing and a mascara running Skylar with no food. I immediately pulled her into the house, closing and locking the door all in one swift motion. She dragged me to the couch where she sat down, wiping her tears and trying to collect her thoughts. I promptly let her use my T-shirt as a tissue or "tear collector" and asked her the foreboding question, "What's wrong?" She peered above the T-shirt for a quick second and muttered "M-men." Her voice was harsh, brittle, and shaky, almost to the point of breaking. At that point I knew she had encountered the same situation, perhaps even the same person. She started out "I-I was working my shift at Dominoes... a-and the guy that I was working with, my ex Travis..." she paused looking at me to make sure I was attentive. " He... he grazed over my breast, and tried to put his hand down my shirt, and after I told him no he retorted "you fuckin women are crazy don't you know you should depend on us men? You're all worthless pieces of shit... I can't believe I used to date you" and left to the back room leaving me to take all the orders." Torn inside, I immediately expressed to her my struggle with my evening jog, and followed with "I'm so sorry babe, you should take it up with the manager, she's a woman, she'll understand, I promise he'll get fired... we can get through this."

The rest of the night felt surreal, yet comforting. I sat patiently the entire time as my girlfriend called her manager about the incident, to which led to Travis getting fired. After hearing from her manager, I was able to fill his position since I used to work there, and she would be paying me a regular salary for however long till' she could find a new position for him. Skylar and I were ecstatic to be working together, however, she knew we would have to closet ourselves because many people in our region didn't support gays. Much less women being appointed in a higher position in "mans work." I knew we still had some struggles to face, but I knew we could do it together. We have love, support and God on our side.
