Chapter 8-Gemmas Funeral

Toni's POV

'It's not me, it's not you, there's a reason.' Liam sang as I opened my eyes.

I leaned over my bedside table and grabbed my iPhone. I squinted my eyes so I could see my screen. I turned my alarm off and rolled over.

"Damn you One Direction" I mumbled as I stuffed my face into my pillow.

I woke with a jolt as I recalled what my nightmare was about. 

Gemma was back, but as a zombie. She was after me and Rhi.

I rolled over and checked my phone. 

1 new message:

(Rhi) Hey, will be there in 15 minutes xx

I sent a message back.

(Toni) Uh Oh, just woke up. May be a bit late xx

My phone buzzed as I got a new message 

(Rhi) Toni, Toni, Toni. Silly girl xx

I got out of bed and looked through my wardrobe to find something to wear.

As I finished up my hair I heard a car horn. That would be Rhi.

I rushed throught the front door and ran to her blue car. Trust me, it is NOT fun running in heels.

"Hey hun." Rhi said numbly. She is still traumatized from Gemma's death. I packed heaps of tissues for us.

"Hey...." I said back. I can already tell this is gonna be a pleasant funeral. Note my sarcasm.

Rhi drove us to the funeral without a word.

When we got there we jumped out of the car and walked to the church. I turned my phone off and walked trough the church's doors.

There was isle upon isle of people dressed in black.

Rhi and I approached Gemma's parents, Cathy and Darren. 

"Oh girls, we've place you, Jess and Shaye up the front. Gemma would want you to sit there." Cathy said.

"Oh thanks Cathy. We are so sorry for your loss." I said as Rhi was already in tears.

Cathy just smiled numbly at us as we made our way down the front. 

"Hey lovies" I said as Rhi and I sat down. 

"Hi...." They said sadly.

We sat there for a while when suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned my head and saw those luscious curls and those mesmerising green eyes. It was Harry

"Hi Toni" He said.

"Oh hey Harry. Didn't expect you boys to be here" I said as I noticed the four other members of One Direction behind him.

"We thought it would be the right thing to do. Zayn insisted too." Harry said, "May we sit down?" He asked.

"Oh, of course" I said as I signalled to Jess to move down the seat.

We sat there for a whole hour (AN: Sorry guys, I've never been to a funeral so I don't know how long they are.) Halfway through the service Harry placed his hand in mine. 

After the service we made our way out of the church. Our whole group were talking when Harry, Liam, Zayn, Niall and Louis approached us. 

"Hi girls. We were wondering if you wanted to join us for dinner tonight?" Liam asked.

I looked at the girls, asking if they were free. They all nodded.

"We would love to." Rhi said smiling. Honestly they would be the perfect couple.

"Cool. We will meet you guys at Nando's at about 6?" Niall asked.

"Niall, why must we go to Nando's everytime?" Louis asked Niall as us girls started giggling.

"But Nando's has the best food ever!" Niall exclaimed enthusiastically.

"Fine......" Louis mumbled grumpily.

"Okay. We'll meet you there!" Liam said.

"Bye Toni!" Harry yelled as he was walking, "Oh and the other girls! Sorry!" 

I smiled as Rhi nudged me with her elbow and raised he eyebrows. 

"What?" I asked

"You like him don't you?" Rhi asks

"Maybe........" I said shyly.

"Don't worry, he likes you too." Rhi says as she winks.

"How do you know these things?" You ask.

"I'm just psychic" Rhi says (AN: Remember the chat we had when you said you were psychic Rhi? ;) )

"Well we better get ready for tonight" Shaye says interrupting our chat.

"Yes, definitely." I say, "I can't wait!" 

Just as I was about to leave with Rhi I hear someone calling my name. I turn around and see Cathy, Gemma's mum, running with a girl our age behind her.

"Toni I wanted to introduce you to Gemma's cousin, Caitlin. She lives in Melbourne and has just moved here to Perth. I was wondering if you could maybe make her feel welcome and introduce her to your group maybe?" Cathy asks.

"Of course!" I say.

I take a look at Caitlin. She has dark blonde hair. She was really pretty.

"Hi Caitlin. I'm Toni and this is Rhi." I say

"Hi" She says shyly.

"Do you want to sleep over at my house tonight? I will invite the other girls and we can have a sleepover. It might help you get to know us more. Before you know it you will feel like you have known us forever. Trust me." I said, "Oh and we are also going out to dinner with the One Direction boys. You can join us if you want. What do you think?" I ask.

"You mean THE One Direction?" She asks.

"Yeah, we kinda met them before their last show. We have kept in contact ever since." Rhi says.

"Sounds great. But I will need to pack if I'm going to your house tonight." Caitlin says.

"Oh yeah. I will drop you off and we can pack." You say

"Awesome." Caitlin says. She already seems like shes settling in great.

We all hop into the car and Caitlins phone starts to ring. 

"Hello?" She says, "Oh hey Nick. The funeral wasn't bad, not as depressing as I thought it would be. Yeah, put him on. KEVVY!" (That was all on the phone with people speaking in between the full stops)

The phone chat went on for a while until we got to Caitlin's place.

"Sorry I've got to go. Okay, bye Kev. Love you" She says

"So who was that on the phone?"Rhi asks

"Oh that was just my best friend Kevin." Caitlin says

"There was a Nick in there too. That's awesome. 'Coz Kevin and Nick are 2 members of the Jonas Brothers. It would be so funny if there was a Joe too" I said. Yes I am majorly obsessed with the Jonas Brothers. 

"Oh, yeah, about that. My best friend is kinda Kevin Jonas." Caitlin said twiddling her thumbs.
