The back door was unlocked, and creaked open softly. Abbigail's terror froze her to the spot as someone came up behind her, and slapped a hand over her mouth. "Don't scream..." The person dragged her to the back of the house, and out into the backyard.
Meanwhile, Toby's car pulled into the driveway, and Toby and Felix, hampered down with subs, unlocked the door and walked inside. "Abbi?"
Abbigai shivered, biting her lip and trying to keep the tears from spilling over as her kidnapper crooned, "Why are you scared? Don't be scared of me, sweetie."
The boys quickly realized something was wrong. The sandwiches were dropped as Toby began sprinting through the house, heart pounding. Felix took up search party duty in the backyard.
"Abbi?!" He called, Swedish accent growing thicker in his haze of obvious worry. Then he heard voices. "Abbi!!" He began racing towards the source, as Abbi turned in the direction of his voice. She tried to open her mouth to scream for him, but her throat was dry. Then something sharp sliced her leg, a searing pain rising as the sound of footprints racing both away from and towards her could be heard.
"Oh my god, Abbi! Toby, I found her!" Felix raced towards her, dropping to his knees and skidding to a stop beside her. Something wet and salty found its way into her mouth and she realized the tears had finally spilled over, blurring her vision. Blood welled up from the gash that had been sliced in her leg, and Felix tore off his jacket, gently tending to the wound as she sobbed.
"Abbigail!!" Toby dropped beside her moments later, his brows knit together and concern shining above all else in his hazel eyes. "What happened?!"
"I... don't know..." It all seemed a literally blurry now that it was over. "Someone came up behind me... dragged me out here..." She was trembling now, still crying.
"Cut her too, it seems. She's bleeding!" Felix pointed out, somewhat unnecessarily.
Frowning, Toby murmured, "Let's get her inside."
A few more tears leaked from Abbigail's eyes before she sniffed, reached up to wipe them away, and then tried to stand. Her legs were wobbly, however, and she found herself unable, so Toby picked her up and carried her towards the house. Abbigail tilted her head to peer up at him, still shaking in fear.
"It... didn't look like my mom. I don't know who it was.." She added.
Toby's frown remained as he made it into the house, laying her down on the couch and wincing himself as she cringed in pain.
"Where is your phone?" He asked, after a few moments of silence had passed.
Abbigail pointed listlessly towards the floor, where her phone lay. Toby headed towards it, an angry look on his face. Her gaze followed his every movement.
"Toby..." Her voice faded suddenly, as she passed out; the stress of it all finally growing to be a bit too much.
"Yeah...?" He glanced over. His heart leapt into his throat at the sight of her seemingly lifeless body, and he snatched her phone off the floor, dropping to his knees beside her couch. "Felix!"
Felix burst in from the kitchen, traces of a subway sandwich totally not framing his lips. "What?"
Toby gestured to Abbigail, still frantic. "I don't know! She just passed out!"
A single tear slid down Abbigail's still face.
"What do we do?!" Toby screeched, gaze flicking back and forth between Abbigal and Felix.
And then the phone in his hand let out a single, pitiful ding.
Text: 'I never wanted her to pass out..'
Toby lifted the phone up suddenly and snapped a picture of Abbi, quickly texting it to her mother, if this even was her mother. He didn't know anymore.
'Yeah? Well she did. Great going, mom of the year!'
Text: 'haha, mom.'
'What?'
Text: 'How much longer is she going to last with you?'
'Who ARE you?!'
Text: 'She got so stressed that she passed out, AND you left her alone... poor decisions Toby Turner... poor, poor decisions.'
'How do you know my name?!' Toby was getting angrier.
Text: 'Well it was fun talking to you. See ya soon.'
'No! Get back here I'm not finished with you!'
Her phone remained silent.
"Son of a nugget in a biscuit..." Toby muttered.
A rustling sound, like crumpling paper, could be just barely heard as a note slid under the front door.
"Toby..." Felix noticed it first, and pointed.
Toby glanced over at it, and then stood up. He walked slowly towards it before bending down, picking it up, and looking it over.
It read: 'You will be soon... ;)'
