Today Claudia was playing. "Claudia, we have some exciting news for you," Lion-o said.
"What is it?" Claudia asked.
Liosia placed her hands on her middle which starting to look round.
"You're going to be a big sister." Lion-o said.
Claudia looked at her parents and came over. "Trust me my beautiful princess everything will be fine," her mother said.
"Yes you will be a big sister just like uncle Tygra is my big brother." Lion-o said.
"Will I have a brother or a sister?" Claudia asked.
"We won't know until the cub is born." Liosia said.
"Where is the cub?" Claudia asked.
"It's inside me," Liosia said.
"How did it get in there?' Claudia asked.
"Uh,"Lion-o said.
"We'll tell you later sweet heart." Liosia said.
Later that day Claudia climbed on to her mother lap. She asked once again how the cub got inside her.
"Okay, sweetie I'll tell you." Liosia said. She explained to her daughter it takes a mother and father to make a baby.
"So you and daddy made the cub?" Claudia asked.
"Yes," Liosia said.
"Did I grow inside you too?" Claudia asked.
"Of course you did." Liosia said.
"When will my new brother or sister get here?" Claudia asked.
"Not for many months. The cub will come in the winter." Liosia said.
"In winter?" Claudia asked.
"Yes you were born on a nice warm summer day." Claudia said.
"My birthday," Claudia said.
"Yes I know your birthday is next week." Liosia said.
"Yes and that day was one of the happiest days of my life." she told her daughter.
"Really? Mommy I have a question," Claudia said.
"What is it sweet heart?" Liosia asked.
"How did you and daddy meet?" Claudia asked.
Liosia told her daughter about her and her brother's arrival in Thundera and how Lion-o helped protect them from street thugs. Then being taken to the palace by Lion-o himself and meeting his family.
"That is how mommy and daddy met." Liosia said.
"Sometime can you and daddy tell me about your adventures?' Claudia asked.
"Of course sweetie." Liosia said.
"Hooray!" Claudia said.
Over the months Claudia saw her mom's stomach get bigger. Claudia would sometimes place her hands on her belly.
"I can't wait to meet my little sister." Claudia said.
"You know it might be a boy." Liosia said.
"Yes brothers are great too, so you just have to wait and see if you will get a brother or a sister." Lion-o said.
"But want to know now!" Claudia said.
Claudius and Leonara came for a visit. "Hello, son." Leonara said.
"Hi, mother," Lion-o said.
"Grandma! Grandpa!" Claudia said.
"You're going to be a big sister," Leonara said.
"I know, I wonder if I'm getting a brother or sister." Claudia said.
"I think it could be either one, just be patient." Claudius said.
"Yes and the birth will happen very soon." Leonara said.
Then one winter night during a freezing cold storm Liosia went into labor.
"Will mommy be okay?" Claudia asked.
"Yes your mother should be fine. You're going to be a big sister." Leonara said.
Claudia was looking worried. She was standing in the hall with her grandparents. They heard crying.
Lion-o came out.
"Claudia you have a brother,"
"What about Mommy?" Claudia asked.
"Your mother is fine just really tired." Lion-o said. "Come and meet your new brothers." he said.
Claudia went into the room and saw her mother. "Hey sweetie," Liosia said.
She had a cub cradled in her arms.
"He's so small," Claudia said.
"Yes but he'll get bigger like you did." Lion-o said.
Leodonno bared a strong resemblance to his grandfather Claudus.
"You know Father Liosia told me when she saw he looks like you," Lion-o said.
Claudius looked down at the cub. "He does look like grandpa!" Claudia said.
"He does look like you dear," Leonara said.
"Have you got a name for him?" Claudus asked.
"No not yet." Lion-o said.
"I have an idea since he looks like grandpa Claudius why not name him Claudius?" Claudia said.
Lion-o and Liosia looked at each other and smiled.
"That is a wonderful idea Claudius it is." Lion-o said.
Claudius picked up his grandson. "That is a good name my grandson and wear it well." Claudius said.
Over the next few days Lion-o and Liosia were busy with baby Claudius.
"Mommy, daddy can one of you tell me a story?" Claudia asked.
"In second Claudia." Lion-o said.
Lion-o was very busy with the cub and Liosia was too.
"I almost forgot how hard this baby care is." Lion-o said.
Claudia was very upset that her parents seemed only focused on her baby brother Claudius.
Lion-o and Liosia saw their daughter looked sad. "Sweetie what's wrong?" Lion-o asked.
"You and mom don't love me anymore," Claudia sobbed.
"Of course we love you, you were our first cub." Liosia said.
"Then how come you seem so focused on Claudius and paying attention only to him?" Claudia asked.
"Sorry Claudia we weren't trying to hurt your feelings, you see your brother is a baby and baby cubs can't do much for themselves." Liosia said.
"You were the same way as a baby," Lion-o said.
"Did I cry all the time like he does?" Claudia asked.
"Yes you did, all babies do, that is how they tell their families they need things." Liosia said.
"Yes and soon he'll be crying to see his big sister." Lion-o said.
"Okay," Claudia said.
Soon Claudia began to help with her baby brother.
Now she was the best big sister a family could ask for.
