“Hey, what’s your email? I need to send you the tickets?” The twitter message read from Nathan, my “brother” as Emily would say.
“... can’t wait to see you. Have you told anyone about it? I mean, press, I don’t want to deal with another rumour.” I replied back quickly getting the same answer as always, “No, not this time.” I ran to my room to pack for the time being, since I didn’t know how long I’d be staying.
“NEW MESSAGE: Sykes. Emily is coming, tell her. (Download File).”The email said, as I read it. I texted Emily and she seemed excited with the reply she sent. Nick Bottom, Oberon, that’s what it seemed like between Emily and Nathan, it’s adorable though I should say. Two weeks, that’s how long we’d be staying at his home. I remember when he had first come here, here in Mooresville. Every time a Manchester United game was on, even if he’d seen it before, he would watch. My dad thought he was crazy, I thought he was the brother I never had.
“I don’t think they will care, they only cared about me visiting you because Max said something. We just have to keep it quite a bit better.” That is something Nathan would say just so you know no one else knew. I had three days to pack, and before I knew it, it was Emily and I sitting on the plane heading to England. I picked up a magazine and could hear my English teacher reading it out in my head.

“Christmas 2012 spent with a best friend and brother. A year ago he came to us, now we go to him.”I tweeted, just before all devices had to be shut off. It was a sixteen hour flight, ten of those dealt with sleeping, two of eating off of Nathan’s card, and the other four convincing Nathan to tell the others. The plane landed before I knew it, and I walked off with jello legs being greeted by the brother, Nathan.
“Look at you, sixteen now! One more year and you can permanently live here!” Nathan was excited to see us both. No one was even there; it was just Nathan and his own car, shocking! “Jess will be happy to see you, if she’s home.”
“Honestly forgot about Jess being in and out. Shouldn’t you be with the others anyway?” I asked. He looked down and laughed a bit with a small smirk growing on his face.
“It’s Christmas, they wouldn’t care if you stayed forever,” he began. “You’re trying not to tell me, you wasted my money, aren’t you?” A camera went off, but that was typical around Nato. We rushed to his car before anymore came and found him. I smelt something juicy on the drive home, like ring pops had been sitting in his care for a month or two.
We arrived home, and rushed to our rooms. The smell of Sykes cooking filled the air, welcoming home started at the airport with Nathan’s smell. I laid the bags in the closet and laid on my bed, looking at the old pictures I had left for when I came back. I heard something outside I found absolutely adorable.
“Nathan Sykes,” Emily began, “Will you marry me?” she asked giving him a purple coloured ring pop. I couldn’t help but laugh at how red his face went.
“Yes, I will,” he answered grabbing the ring pop and taking a picture that later ended up on twitter with “I love the people that love me enough to ask to marry them with a ring pop. Forever with you Emily.” If ones words could tell the story between them, I would like to hear it.
“Nice welcome, I’m here, gift,” I said grabbing his Blackberry. He didn’t seem happy at first, but I made him a bit happier tweeting “And don’t ever let my little sister be forgotten again this Christmas unlike last years.” “You did get us a Christmas gift this year, correct?”
“Yes, but I have an interview tomorrow with the press, so I’ll pick it up afterward.” Basically he said he didn’t get me a present yet. “You got these from my car,” Nathan smiled to Emily. Reddish-pink appeared on her cheeks, laughter sprawled out from all three.
“Maybe,” Emily whispered. She did though, it was easy to tell with the smell in his car, and he loved ring pops.
“DINNER!” Mrs. Sykes yelled from downstairs. Emily quickly ran downstairs; she hadn’t eaten much on the plane. Nathan looked at me, head to foot.
“Sweatpants, tee-shirt, TOMS, and a scarf. That’s what the photo of you will be. I don’t think anyone has seen my little sister, Effey Sykes, dressed so low,” he paused for a minute, “This was your Christmas present, you coming here to England. I missed you too much, you and the cute Emily. I don’t exactly want you both to leave.”
“We don’t have to though, we can stay the rest of our school year, go to school here, and only senior year is left.”
“I know it’s a bit frightening, we might just be playing with lightning now, but you can’t stay, you’d have to go back.” He tried to add two lines from ‘Lightening’ just to get it out.
“Nathan! Effey! Come down!” she yelled again. Home, I loved being home. I don’t care how famous my brother was, I loved seeing him. The nigh ended fast, the next day, the questioning would begin.
