Chapter 15: There Goes the Syrup

"Where are we going?" Dr. Soren asked as he picked up the knocked out Allison.

"Good question. Let's put her in her room first, and if you're not busy after that, we can go find Adam since he wasn't there."

"I believe I'm on break after this, so I'd be happy to help." He replied and smiled.
"You don't have to help, you can take your break."
"You're my king. It's my job to help in any way possible."

Douglas pointed a finger up and opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out.

"Right," he finally said. "I almost forgot about being a king, I was so busy with her."

He turned to leave the room, and Dr. Soren followed with Allison. While they were headed towards Allison's room, a conversation fired up in the surgery room.

While cleaning up the table, Petal asked, "What do you think is going to happen with her?"

"I have no idea." Rose replied. "I'm not sure if Douglas will keep her or actually do what he wanted."

"I'm not even sure who is worse; Douglas, or him." Petal spat that word out like poison.

"I'm assuming you don't like either of them?"
"To be honest, I'm not a fan of either of them, but I was one of the few who went with Douglas and I became a surgeon here."
"Well, I'd say Douglas is better. He is more clingy than him."
"True, but he is... Y'know. And he is technically a higher rank, so he would have the power to take her from Douglas if he really had to, and Douglas wouldn't be able to refuse that."

"Well," Rose said, "change of topic. What do you think is going to happen to the others? The ones he locked up?"

"May I have some syrup with it?" Kat asked the server.
"Yes, you may. What flavor?" The server replied.
"What flavors are there?"
"Strawberry, blueberry, maple, and we have a special coffee-flavored syrup."
"Strawberry, please."

"Okay," the server wrote that down on the note pad they were holding, and asked, "Would you like anything else?"

"I think we are all set," Seto replied. He collected the menus and handed them to the server.

"Thanks. Your food should be ready in about 10 minutes." They said and walked away to serve a nearby table of Endermen.

Adam sat on one side of the table, while Seto and Kat sat next to each other on the other side.

A moment or two later, the server came back with coffee and cups. They put them down on the table, and poured the dark brown liquid into the ceramic cups. "Sugar with any of these?"

"Me, please," Adam said. The server put a small spoonful of sugar into his cup, stirred it, and put it in front of Adam. They then put a straw next to it.

"Anyone else?"
"Ah, I guess me as well." Seto said and shrugged. A spoonful was put into his and another straw came out from their apron.

They put Seto's cup in front of him and Kat's in front of her. "Enjoy," they said, and walked away.

Kat gently blew on her coffee while looking for a spoon. She unwrapped a napkin that had a fork, knife, and spoon in it. She grabbed the spoon and started stirring the coffee instead of blowing on it.
