Falling roses

Introduction
A rose, simple, beautiful-that's why most people like them. What if they're not simple, what about all of the layers that are built up over the years, the layers that keep going deeper-the layers that get so complex-I can relate: that's why it's my favourite flower
            But...what if say, it was just one petal, no layers, no complexity; just a petal. Would it matter if that petal was to fall off the rose? No one would care if it fell off to rot and wither away, right? After all it's just a petal that acts like a rose, because it doesn't know how else to act.
