Chapter four

Nora's POV
We were about to have to fight two cranks. Both of have weapons, good enough to kill. They looked, scary. A look of blood lust on their faces. We were all in fighting stances, when suddenly the door of the room we were in busts open. There were three people standing there, I don't know who they are. One was tall with messy blonde hair and seemed about seventeen, the next was short and chubby with curly brown hair and seemed about twelve, and the last one was muscular and had dark skin with very short hair, almost no hair actually. "You two, back off!", The blonde says to the cranks, his voice carrying some accent that seems British. The two older boys held guns while the younger had a machete. Where did they get a machete? Or guns? "Chuck! Alby! Newt! ", The boy they called Thomas yelled. The guy, Minho, looked dumb founded.  I focus my attention on the three new boys and the two cranks. When they thought that the others were distracted, those cranks bolted. They ran right out the door.  "Hey! Those cranks are running away!", I say frantically. "So?", Zac asks. I sigh, exasperated. "Because what if they come back! They have weapons, and a vengeance. Did you not see that look if blood lust, you doofus?", Cleo says to Zac. "But they are just cranks. They aren't exactly smart. ", Levi points out. "But still, these cranks weren't past the gone! They seem to have already lost their humanity but they haven't lost their brain! They are dangerous. Get that through you boy's thick skulls!", Cleo exclaimed. We hear someone clear their throats behind us and look to see the other guys standing there. "Well, I know Levi and Zac. I also recognize the blonde girl, but who are you?", Thomas asks. "Oh, this is Nora. We met her in the city, she I immune too. ", Cleo answers for me. "And by the way, my name is Cleo, not blonde girl. ", she states sassily. Minho chuckles. (cause he is the SASS QUEEN)  "Ok, I know Thomas and Newt already, but who are these three?", I asks, directing my attention to the three strangers. "Well, this is Alby, Chuck, and Newt. ", Minho says, pointing to each as he goes along. "Oh yeah, Chuck is about your age Nora!", Zac says. I look at the chubby kid, and he does seem only about a year older than me. "Ok, big question time shanks. ", Minho starts. "How are Alby and Chuck alive and how is Newt here and not a crank?", Minho asks. I look at Newt. He was a crank? How did he get cured? "Well, actually Minho, I died too. ", Newt says. "You died?!", Minho exclaims. I see Thomas look at his shoes. He seems, guilty? "Yeah. And we don't know exactly what happened. We just know that woman from WICKED did something. We just woke up in a building and she was there. She told us where you were and a bit about what happened then left. So, we came to find you. Now we can go back to that safe haven place!", Newt says happily. Chuck runs up and hugs Thomas. Thomas starts crying a little bit. "Thanks for saving me Chuck. ", Thomas says quietly. "Well shuck-face, you know WICKED controllers and made me do it. But, even if they hadn't, I would have tried and saved you anyways. ", Chuck says. I have no idea what is going on but the other guys eyes are watering a bit. Cleo and I are the only ones who aren't wet eyed. "So, should we get back to the safe haven?", Alby says. That is the first thing he has said since he told this cranks to go away. "Speaking of, how will we get there without being attacked? We need to be very weary of those cranks. ", I say. Everyone looks a bit concerned. "Hey! Pssst!", we hear someone whisper. "What was that?", Levi asks. "I don't know. ", Thomas says. "It came from right out side the door. ", Chuck whimpers. The door slowly opens to reveal the grey eyed crank. "Hey! What are you doing here!", Minho practically yells, getting into fighting stance. "Listen! I get that you probably want to kill me, but before you do, I need to tell you something! Please, it's for your own safety. ", Addi begs. "And why should we trust you?", Newt asks, also in a fighting stance. "Here, you cam take my knife. ", The crank says. She then puts the flicks the pocket knifes blade in and tosses it to Newt. He catches it pretty easily. "What do you want to tell us then?", Alby questions. "I wanted to say that the "Girl Goners ", was just a cover up first of all. Maeve and I worked for WICKED. They put us out here as a trial for you when you came here, but at that same time I was captured by the right arm because they found out that I worked for WICKED. The rest of the girls in the group were actual cranks by the way. But, Maeve is also a Munie like you all. Well, except Newt. I've been in contact with Ava Page and she said once she brought you back, she would give you something she had been working on. It was like a cure, but only temporary. So basically, Newt is a temporary Munie. Since y'all are going to the safe haven though, he should be fine. I just wanted to tell you all of this even though we were instructed not to. I also wanted to tell you that the man you called 'Ratman', his cronies are coming after you all. Well, not the short dark-haired girl. But they are coming after the rest of you. I think that Newt, Chuck, and Alby should be safe because they still think you are dead. ", Addi says, still faced. Everyone around me seems in shock. "Who is Ratman?", Chuck asks. "Yeah. ", Alby agree with the questions. I guess those two don't know who he is either. "Uh...  He is and evil man that had the flare but his it with the Bliss. He worked for WICKED and was completely selfish. He abandoned his kids and his wife for his work. He was greedy and hardly competent in my opinion. He is the reason that I'm actually becoming a crank, unlike Maeve. ", Addi answers, still showing no expression or emotion. "Wait, what do you mean?", Zac questions. "Ratman found a way to stop munies from being, well, immune. I got on his bad side, questioning his reasons for hurting innocent children. Never telling them about the out side world, putting them in an even more dangerous situation. I mean, he pit kids in a maze! With grievers! And sent then only supplies. Made them relearn how to live! And he was at the heart of it! Ava may have been what really kept it running, but he is the one who put this evil into the situation. Everything was fine, innocently trying to find a cure for the flare, the disease that caused the apocalypse. Then they found out about kids that were special! Kids that could live without being affected by the disease that was still coursing through their system. It was like Ratman was jealous, he caused an uprising and that's what pushed Ava into actually agreeing to that plan. I refused to be part of it and scrutinized Ratman, so he took my immunity. Ava gave me the stuff that lasts for awhile, but it is wearing off. I'm gonna become a real crank soon enough. So that's another reason I wanted to tell you this, because I won't be around later to tell you. Tell Maeve you know and convince her to help you. I need to leave, because I'm stressed. It pulling me past the gone too fast. As far as I can tell, I could be a full blown, past the gone, crazed and crazy, rotting crank in a matter of days. So please, be safe. I've been with WICKED my whole life, and they didn't used to be cruel and crazy. But, when Ratman came, they really did become wicked. ", Addi said. With that, she left the room. "Wait! Your knife!", Newt called out. We didn't see her but heard her answer, "Keep it. ".  We all look at each other, confused and a bit scared. "His cronies are coming after us? And they have a way to take away our immunity? Newt only has awhile before he returns to not being an immune and becomes a crank again?", Thomas spurts out all these questions. "But can we even trust her? She even admitted it, she is becoming a crank. ", Minho says. "Well, why would she lie about all of that?", Cleo questions. "Hmm. Well, all this means is that we need to get to the safe haven faster, be wearier, and stay safer. ", Alby says. We all nod in agreement. "Now then, where even are we?", Cleo asks. "Well, we are between the city and WICKEDs old headquarters are. The flat trans to the safe haven is there. But we need to hurry or it might close. ", Minho explains. "This was just an abandoned building that hasn't been taken over by cranks. ", Thomas says. "Well I'm a bit surprised that the cranks hasn't taken over yet. ", Levi says. "Yeah, that's surprising. ", Zac agrees. "Well, we have flashlights. We have been keeping them all on and they are hanging outside and in. Cranks hate the light so they will either attack it or stay away from it. We aren't sure yet, but it's better to chance this than to stay in that dark and wait for cranks to come and, we'll, turn our lights out. ", Minho says. "What?", Chuck questions, confused by the last statement. "Death Chuck. Better than the cranks coming and killing us. ", Newt says. "Oh. ", Chuck says, looking like whatever child hood innocence he had left had been drained away. "Yeah. It's kill or be killed. ", we all jump when we hear this voice. We turn around to see the green eyed girl that had pretended to be a crank, daggers in hand. "Oh! Did I startle you?", Maeve says, grinning maniacally. She is pretty good at acting, i must say. "Give it up, we know you aren't an actual crank. That grey eyed girl told us everything. ", Chuck says, trying to act brave. Maeve looked as if she had seen a ghost. "W-what do you mean? I d-dont know what yo-you are talking about-t. ", Maeve stutters. "We know you aren't really a crank. That you worked for WICKED. I just don't know why you are still pretending to be a crank. ", Cleo says. Maeve sighs. "Fine. I'll answer your questions. But first things first, where is Addi?", Maeve asks. "Umm. Well, about that......... "

Sorry it is a terrible chapter but I'm super busy! Enjoy and have a ROSSOME day! I doubt you get that reference, BUT STILL. If ya ain't scared, ya ain't human.
