December 31st. New Years Eve.

Many of the staff returned back to Hogwarts from their holidays to prepare their lessons for the remainder of the break until classes resume.

Before we all dig into our meal in the great hall, Albus greets the professors and those of the students who remained at Hogwarts over the holidays. He announces that he will be hosting a little New Years get together for anyone who wishes to attend and have some fun. Drinks, music and of course the New Years countdown.

He finishes speaking and commences the meal as we all dig into the delicious turkey feast.

"Ohh I just love parties, don't you all?!" Madame Pomfrey beams as she excitedly clasps her hands together.

Severus curls his lip in disgust as he grumbles to himself at the matrons words.

"Oh Snape lighten up it's New Year's Eve." She chastises the grumpy wizard. "Reselda don't you love parties!" She returns back to smiling as she addresses me.

"Never been to one.." I say nonchalantly as I take a sip of tea. The professors who over heard our conversation go silent as they all stare at me. Even Severus gives me a strange look.

I look up from my cup and realize they're all staring at me, "what?"

They continue to stare until Hagrid finally breaks the silence, "Ye ain't been to any sort of party before? Ball? Gatherin? Anythin?"

I shake my head no hesitantly, wondering why everyone is so surprised.

"Well then your just in for a treat" Madame Pomfrey smiles sweetly at me.

I do have to admit I am rather excited about this party tonight. I have never celebrated New Years before so I can't wait to do so here at Hogwarts.

Sitting in front of my vanity, I brush and weave my long hair into a loose braid that falls over my right shoulder. A few wavey strands of hair fall loosely round my face. The tips and ends of my hair are coloured a blush pink ombré thanks to a sixth year Ravenclaw girl with colourful hair herself. I decided to change things up for the occasion. The charm only lasts one night which is plenty enough time.

Since it's a special occasion I decide to spread some light pink lip gloss across my lips and brush on some mascara. I stare at myself as my blue eyes shine even brighter under my long eyelashes.

The butterflies in my stomach begin dancing around as I stand to go check out my appearance in my stand up mirror near the bathroom door.

I zip the back of my soft, white sweater dress which hugs my figure just enough to adorn my slim curves. I slip on a pair of thigh high suede boots leaving a strip of leg showing where my dress and boots almost meet.

"How do I look?" I turn to my little friend hopping around my vanity.

Magna hoots in reply as I smile and scratch his head before heading out the door towards the great hall.

Music faintly sounds through the corridor as I reach the massive doors and take a deep breath before stepping forward. The doors open up on their own for me as one of the castles ghosts greets me with a smile, "Evening my dear" the spirit bows to me.

"Evening Sir" I smile up to him.

I turn my attention to the end of the hall where a crowd of students and professors mill about, chatting and drinking, laughing and dancing. Beautiful and melodious music fills my ears. But what really amazes me is the roof is covered in stars as fireworks silently light up between the rafters. My feet begin taking me towards the group as my eyes are trained upon the beautifully embellished sky upon the ceiling. I grin broadly at the magical fireflies shimmering and fluttering about in the air.
