Alexis shut her eyes. This was it, she was about to make the drop. This would completely change her life and she wasn't sure if she was ready. Before descending down her family had said goodbye to her. Alexis knew she would never see them again. By devoting her life to the cause she had to say goodbye to her old life. Alexis was made to understand that she would be leaving part of herself behind. They even took her clothes away from her and made her wear a plain shirt and trousers. By looking at the stairs in front of her, alexis knew it was a long way down. It would take awhile to reach the room. Alexis put one foot in front of the other. This was it, the way to her future – however dark it may be. This was the drop.
