"Come Alive, Come Alive." The group sung flawlessly. I cheered along, I wasn't a performer but I know all the words since I have never missed a show,never.
I sang along to the performers and danced. They finished their show and I screamed like a fangirl. I guess I was one. I saw Phineas Barnum talking to Lettie Lutz looking right at me. She nodded and she was heading my way. Did I do something wrong?
She walked up to me and pulled me on stage "How many shows have you been to, to know all the words?"she asked "All..." She smiled warmly and I smiled back "What's your name?" "Emma Carlyle"I replied. "Well Emma. Mr Barnum wants to see you"I nod calmly but inside I'm screaming of joy.
He opened the door and held his hand out "P.T Barnum. At your service"he says. I smile "Emma Carlyle, sir." He smiles back warmly. Competing with Lettie's. He coughs and says "I'm giving the chance for you to join my circus."he says. My face lights up "I'd love to Mr Barnum" he chuckled. "There's one rule. Call me Phin" he says and I nod.
It was quite fun in the circus. You have a family that actually love you. Me and Phineas are best friends and we get along amazingly. My brother and me are different on a massive scale. He does plays and I'm in a circus. I guess we're nothing alike sadly.
"Hey Phin!" Barnum walked past. He flashes and smile before pacing away. I heard singing at a bar and decide to take a look. I see Phin and... Phillip?
Why is Phillip there? To be fair Phillip is a great singer thanks to me. I taught him how to sing and dance. I'm quite proud.
They shake hands and a deal has been made. What's the deal? They head towards the door and I sprint away and hide. They seem to get along. I sigh sadly. Is he joining the circus?
The next day, I wake up and see Phillip taking to Lettie. I knew it. He was jealous and wanted to join. This is not gonna go well. Me and Phillip do NOT get along. After I taught him how to sing and he started making plays he got power-crazed.
I got up and huffed putting on a fake smile at him before closing the door and getting changed. I hear a knock and I open the door to see Phin and Phillip smiling. I eye Phillip before smiling back "Brother"I say through gritted teeth. "Emma. Sorry about me walking off. Bit busy. Being Ringmaster an' all"Phin says easing the tension.
I smile and nod understanding.Phillip speaks up "Sister! Didnt think you were here!". I was not happy. Just proves he doesn't listen to me. "Funny Brother. I told you when I first got in" Phillip puts an incredibly fake smile on his face.
Barnum looks at me with a 'Be Nice' looks. I roll my eyes and nod and he smiles.
Phillip walks with me to the stage. I have to show him around. Lucky me. He asks who the trapeeze artist is and I shrug. I know who it is but I don't really like her. She's not that fond of me.
I show him the building and sigh bored. Phin comes up to me and apologizes."Sorry " I turn to him "For what?" "Bringing your brother in." I chuckle. "It's fine. He needs to have fun than rather just sit down and shout at people telling them to act" Phin chuckled.
"Yeah."he says and gets up "Well. I better go." I get up as well and brushes off the dust "Uh..yeah. Um Well... Bye?" What's wrong with me. I'm never that nervous!
Anne comes up to me now. What does she want? "Is that your brother?"she asks. I roll my eyes "Yes.. it is Phillip" he hears his name and sprints over. "Heard my name!"he's acting all show off now. "Anne. Meet Phillip. Phillip meet Anne"I smile falsely. They start talking and I slip away sneakily.
I joyfully skip towards Lettie since I haven't talked to her in a while. "Hey Lettie!"I say in a good mood. Lettie smiles and pulls me into a hug. I hug back. "How ya dealing with Phillip owning 10% of the show" I pull away immediately. "I didn't know!" Lettie chuckled nervously "Well I better go say my farewells to Barnum ay?"I grin at her comment "Yep!"
I sprint towards the office of Phin and knock on the door. He says come in with his usual joyful tone. "Eyyy Emma! What do I have the pleasure of seeing you here?" I smile "How did you get my brother into the circus" of course I knew but I wanted to see if he lies to me. "He just agreed" I know he's lying to me. Who knows he has lied to me before now..
