I entered his house with a big gift in my hands. Music was playing and kids were running around everywhere while the adults were talking in the kitchen."Oh hi Yeonhee! Your mom told me you were coming. Soobin is in his room so you could give him your gift right now."
"Ok thank you" I replied
Soobin's mom was like a second mom to me ever since she started taking more care of her after the incident with my dad.
I went up the stairs to find soobin. I couldn't wait to show him his gift. I spent all week planning it and preparing it.
I went up to the door until I heard a few voices and laughter from the other side. I was about to go in until I heard my name.
"How come you always spend time with that girl Yeonhee, Soobin?"
"Idk we're pretty close and she's fun I guess."
"Are you kidding me?? A girl? Fun? Yeah right. Guys shouldn't be hanging around with girls. They're too obnoxious."
There a was pause before he answered
"I only actually spend time with her because of my mom. She's forcing me to play with Yeonhee and it's not like I could do anything about it"
Before he could say anymore, I ran back downstairs with watery eyes. I dropped the present in front of Soobin's mom.
"Honey, what's wrong?" She grabbed my arm.
I only stared back at her with tears rolling down my face."Ask him." I couldn't believe that he would say that about me.
I ran back to my house which was literally across the street and cried for the rest of the evening. I couldn't tell if those were his true feelings or if just couldn't stand up to the other guy. Either way, I decided to just avoid him as much as possible.
And that's exactly what I did.
