I and Kyoichi biked side by side, me being curious about where we were going.
"Where are we going?" I voiced my thought.
"To look after Makoto and Sho", He replied.
"They're here?!" I asked. He sighed and nodded. He got off his bike and walked it. I followed his actions.
"Watch. But don't interrupt", He commanded. We were on top of a hill. It took all of my willpower to not go and hug my cousin but I managed to suppress my emotions as I noticed the man in front of him.
"-You can go home with your bike. You know what? Let's have an idaten battle. If you win, I'll tell you how to go home", He was saying.
"A lie. He's obviously lying", I muttered. Kyoichi raised an eyebrow but said nothing. I sat with my legs dangling over the edge, crossed at the ankles and Kyoichi stood beside me with his arms crossed. I took off the hood of my hoodie to get some sunshine on my head.
After a bit of stuff through which I droned out, the race started. I whistled and raised my eyebrows.
"Sho didn't check out the track before? He's very bold, naive and stupid", I said.
"Is that a compliment?" Kyoichi asked.
"Bold? Yes. Naive and Stupid? Not a compliment", I said as Sho entered the building ahead of Shin the Shadow, weird, it was almost as if Shin had let it happen purposely.
When they were back in view, my eyes widened. How had Shin gotten ahead of Sho? Then there were the vines, and Sho's tire got stuck, by which he ended up in the tree before I could process it. I pulled on my hood again, knowing what to do.
"That was.. interesting?" I said, not able to find the right word as I stood up and got on my bike. Kyoichi was right behind me as we climbed down.
"Liar", I shortly said as I stopped in front of Shin and eyed the emblem in his hand and then turned my eyes to Sho who was begging for the way to go home.
"You should never go without checking the track. A person who doesn't take MTB seriously doesn't deserve to ride one", Kyoichi said. That seemed to hit a line on Makoto.
"You lied to take their emblem. It isn't exactly cheating but I don't see how it is fair play", I said as I crossed my hands on my waist and glared at Shin who shrugged.
"I'm sorry if you have a problem kid", He said.
"I challenge you to an idaten battle", I said immediately. Shin smirked.
"You don't look like much. How many idaten battles have you had yet?" He asked. I shrugged.
"This is my first. You have a problem?" I said.
"No, not at all. Let's start", Shin said and headed over to his drive launcher. I pulled my hood lower uncomfortably.
"Your first battle?! How will you defeat him?" The trio asked in sync.
"They're right for once", Kyoichi agreed. I smirked at them and they shivered under the devilish smirk, well, leaving Kyoichi, who just averted his eyes.
"Oh don't worry. I'm very experienced and have quite a few tricks up my sleeve", I said in a cold voice, glaring at Shin the Shadow before clutching my bracelet to my heart, closing my eyes and praying to my brother, which I always did. I opened my eyes, which were shining with determination.
"Dash Set, Let's Go!!" I said and activated my Dash Suit before getting on Red Pheonix.
"In it to win it! With Hiro's determination, Unleash your fury, RED PHEONIX!!" I yelled.
"Idaten...... GO!!" We both said and were off. I headed toward the building and noted that Shin was slowing down. In the dark, I closed my eyes and focused on my senses. None of them indicated that Shin had crossed me and my sixth sense knew that something was wrong. I opened my eyes and realized Shin was ahead of me again. I smirked, this guy is a cheater one million percent. I'll go ahead and prove it.
Then were the vines. I vaguely heard Sho yell a warning but didn't pay attention thanks to ADHD. I 'tch'ed in frustration as my tire got stuck.
"Not a chance, cheater", I muttered and did a bunny hop to free my tire and turned away to the route. I was ahead of Shin, then in the shadows, he was ahead of me again. I growled angrily, then smirked devilishly, they fell right for it.
I turned and went the opposite way.
"Need some help, Mr.Cheater?" I asked the duplicate behind the tree as I took off my helmet so the guy could my deathly smirk and he visibly froze.
--------------------------------------------
"Hand Over Sho's emblem. Oh, yea, your's too", I said and beckoned. Three emblems were placed in my hand. I turned to Sho and gave it to him.
"Be careful later on. And puh-lease never race without checking out the track first. You'll turn out to be a pretty lame racer if you don't, that's a fact", I said as I sighed and shook my head.
"Please go away if you're just here to lecture me", Sho muttered.
"Sho! It's rude to say that to someone who helped you!" Makoto said.
"Sho! Don't go on her bad side! Her smile is deadly, y'know. And didn't you see how she beat him on her first battle?!" Hosuke whispered in his ear, but I heard every word quite clearly. My eye twitched in annoyance and I mentally face-palmed. I turned back to the twins to see them scurrying away.
"Hey!" I said in annoyance. "I wasn't done yet!"
"Let them go. And before I forget, do something for me, will ya?" Kyoichi said. I tilted my head at him in confusion.
"What? I won't leave you if it's about that. I already told you", I said. Kyoichi looked at me with his piercing eyes and I raised my eyebrows, even though he couldn't see me.
"I was thinking it'd be safer if you stayed with these two troublemakers", He said and jerked a thumb to Sho's group.
"Excuse me, two troublemakers? Sho is the only one here", Kakeru said. Kyoichi narrowed his eyes.
"I don't trust that owl of yours", Kyoichi said and I slightly nodded.
"Seconded", I agreed. Then I registered what Kyoichi said and spun to face him.
"Shit", He muttered as he took one look at my glare and quickly averted his eyes to avoid eye-contact at every cost.
"Let me get this straight! You want me to clean up after this group?!" I said and leaned into his face, standing on my tiptoes as he leaned back with his hands out for me to calm down as he looked away.
"Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to ask you", He mumbled.
"You bet it wasn't!!" I said crossly as I crossed my arms.
"W-well, maybe we should get going", He said.
"Ok. But when we stop, you and I are gonna have a long chat about this", I said as we got on our bikes. I turned to Makoto and Kakeru.
"Take care of the troublemakers. Especially this one, he seems to get into a lot of trouble", I said and pointed to Sho. Then I looked ahead and saw Kyoichi already riding away. I pouted as I pedaled hard to catch up or not lose sight of him at least. I waved without looking back.
"Bye!! Hey, Wait up dude!!!" I yelled the second part to Kyoichi with a frown as we rode away to god knows where.
