Clarke watched Bellamy's car disappear as he turned down the road. He hadn't even properly told her goodbye, just met her blue eyes and gave her the most heartbreaking gaze she had ever seen.
"It's going to be different," Marcus sighed, everyone walking back in the house. "We got Clarke back, but now Bellamy's gone. Hey, no one will fuss with you," he teased her.
She didn't even bother replying, just grabbed a bag of chips and went to her room. She locked her door, not wanting to be bothered.
Laying back, she wanted to cry. She wanted to call him and tell him to turn around. She wanted to get into her car and chase him. But, to what end? Nothing had changed in the last twenty four hours.
*********
Clarke shut her computer down at the hospital. She finished filing and grabbed her purse. Walking through the hospital, she made sure to stop and see Warren. He had been bound to his bed for a few weeks, breaking most of the bones in his body at his job from falling off of a ladder.
His wife smiled in greeting as Clarke entered the room, leaving to the cafeteria.
"There's my favorite employee," Warren greeted her, his face needing another shave. "Eww, come on!"
"What?" She rolled her eyes. "Is my shirt ugly today?" He loved to tease her.
"No, but that funk you're in is 'totally killing my vibe' and like, 'harshing my mellow'," he spoke with a fake girly tone. "Seriously, whose ass am I kicking?"
Clarke laughed, adjusting her purse. She had met him by accident, entering his room by complete mistake. He had called her into his room ever since then if she walked by him, which she did often.
"I don't think you can kick anyone's ass, Mummy," she joked.
"Well, you just give me a few more weeks," he promised. "Someone is getting a can of whoopass!"
Clarke laughed loudly. "I'm fine, I'll get over it."
"You tell that boy he's an idiot," he said, his dark blue eyes growing serious. "Whoever he is, whatever he did to you, you tell him that he is an idiot."
"I think I'm the idiot," she admitted. "Things were complicated, Warren. Really complicated, and, I guess I could have just left them complicated. But, I couldn't. My mind is never really living in the moment like his was. I was always looking towards the future, thinking of all of the bad, all of the problems."
"Well, without details I can't bestow any wisdom on you," he said. "But, I will tell you this. If you know, you know."
Clarke gave him a nod and a smile before leaving. She replied to Raven's messages in the parking lot. John invited her to the movies with him and Raven.
She didn't really want to go, but she agreed anyways. She knew Raven would try to come over and cheer her up if she refused. Raven had been trying for weeks, but Clarke didn't feel any better. She couldn't even cry for Pete's sake.
She got home, her mother and Marcus coming in a few minutes later.
"Hey, we're going to dinner tonight. It'll probably be late, you going to be okay?"
"Yeah, Mom. I'm actually about to go change, I've got plans with Rave and John."
"Okay, have fun!" She disappeared to her room with Marcus, coming out later in a nice dress.
She looked really happy, and Clarke was happy for her. Happy for them both.
She head up the stairs as they left, pulling off her jeans and shirt. She grabbed a pair of leggings and a long tank top, sliding on flats. After touching up her make up, she was ready.
As she drove into town, her phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hey, I'm at your house."
"What?" She demanded. "Rave, why are you at my house? John said meet you guys at seven, I just got into town."
"We uh, we got into a disagreement," Raven said, her voice sounding off.
Clarke pulled into a gas station, turning around and heading back home. "Okay, I'll be there in about twenty minutes. Do you know where the spare key is?"
"Yeah, I'll be in your room."
Clarke ended the call, her fingers drumming the steering wheel. What could they have even fought about? She didn't think they had fought much, but she had been mentally distant for the last few weeks, so there was no telling what she had missed out on.
Wells had noticed she was off when he came for a visit. Her father noticed when called, but she lied and said she was swamped. Her mother thought she was just moody. Only Raven really understood what bothered her, but she had refused to discuss it any further after he left, even with her best friend.
She pulled back into her driveway, not seeing Raven's car. Surely, John wouldn't have just ditched her and dropped her off, right? Well, who knew?
She opened the front door, making sure it closed before jogging up the stairs. "Raven?" She called, twisting her door knob.
She pushed open her door, but Raven was not there. Instead, Bellamy stood, a wrapped box in his hands and flowers.
"I know your birthday is next week, but I wanted to come by and just say-"
Clarke threw her arms around his neck, kissing him. He leaned over, putting the flowers and the box on the desk. His arms circled her body, making her melt.
She deepened the kiss, their bodies molding together. He lifted her, her legs wrapping around his waist. He carried her to the bed, gently laying her down.
She allowed him to break the kiss, trailing his lips in a fiery trail across her cheek, down her neck, and above her breasts.
Her breaths were shallow, his movements slow. They undressed one another, their hands an mouths taking their time to explore one another once again.
They were slow, their bodies moving together in sync for what felt like hours as they both reached their peaks.
Clarke was on top of him, her head thrown back as she moved her hips, squeezing the come from him.
When they were finished, Bellamy rose and put his clothes back on. Clarke's heart pound sadly in her chest as she watched him. They hadn't seen each other in over two months, and he just slept with her and now was leaving?
Well, now she knew how all the girls he used in high school felt.
Then again, she supposed they couldn't sleep that way.
She followed his lead, dressing herself.
"Clarke, I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"I'm sorry for hurting you, the night before I left. I do want to talk, okay? Maybe next weekend? I can't stay this weekend, I have a big paper due Monday."
She nodded, a small amount of hope rising in her chest. "Yeah, okay. We can meet up next week."
He hugged her to his chest, kissing the top of her head. "I've got to go before the parents get back."
She watched him leave, her eyes moving to the desk. She rubbed the pink and blue flowers softly. Slowly, she opened the box.
"Oh," she gasped. Bellamy had given her a beautiful watch. She lifted it from the box, running her fingers along the glittering watch. She turned it over.
"Princess" was engraved on the bottom.
